Exodus 22:29
"Thou shalt not delay to offer the first of thy ripe fruits..."

To God we must offer
And our tithe pay
For this scripture says
We surely shall not delay

For He will reward us
If obedient we be
And the storehouse of heaven
He will open to you and me

"The most important thing you can say about a man is that he'll do what he says he'll do."

--Red Steagall

"For three decades, and perhaps longer, the drift [in America] has been a downward spiral into blame, finger-pointing, pessimism, self-pity, and litigiousness. It's been a slide into a culture of whining and rationalizing.... It hasn't been classic American can-do-ism."

--Jesse Mullins

My, my sometimes I wonder what direction we are taking. The extremes on both sides are whining. There are those who walk through life tip-toeing through the tulips saying, "bless me, oh bless me for I deserve it." On the other side there are those that cry out if they are opposed or challenged "legalism"!

Have you ever though where the church might be if there were not the councils, not the creeds? It fights about so many things but without a thorough look at Scripture there would be no end to the bickering and it is bad enough with guidelines.

Tell me what is wrong with standards, commandments, codes to which we should guide our lives. Looking at the codes of the military and others truthfulness and honesty were paramount. Honor and valor were esteemed. There was no cry of legalism and if suffering came it was not cursed as an act of the devil but a means to grow more in character. Stand for the truth, not water it down with some pseudo-Christianity.

Remember, some of you from your childhood, Hopalong Cassidy? For quite a spell we were taught there was right and wrong, black and white. Take a look at his "Creed for American Boys and Girls."

1. The highest badge of honor a person can wear in honesty. Be mindful at all times.

2. Your parents are the best friends you have. Listen to them and obey their instruction.

3. If you want to be respected, you must respect others. Show good manners in every way.

4. Only through hard work and study can you succeed. Don't be lazy.

5. Your good deeds always come to light. So don't boast or be a show off.

6. If you waste time or money today, you will regret it tomorrow. Practice thrift in all ways.

7. Many animals are good and loyal companions. Be friendly and kind to them.

8. A strong, healthy body is a precious gift. Be neat and clean.

9. Our country's laws are made for your protection. Observe them carefully.

10. Children in many foreign lands are less fortunate than you. Be glad and proud you are an American

.

Not too shabby, but I can hear those out there cry, "cheesie." So what, is the doing of right something to be ashamed of?

D. Adkisson

"Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin."

Exodus 23:30
"By little and little I will drive them out from before thee, until thou be increased, and inherit the land."

Your enemies may seem strong
Come against you in every way
But the Lord is driving them out
Little by little every day

One day we will look for them
And lo they will have vanished
And God will whisper in your ear
Your enemies, I have banished

Luk 19:12 So he said, "There was once a man of high rank who was going to a country far away to be made king, after which he planned to come back home.
Luk 19:13 Before he left, he called his ten servants and gave them each a gold coin and told them, 'See what you can earn with this while I am gone.'
Luk 19:14 Now, his own people hated him, and so they sent messengers after him to say, 'We don't want this man to be our king.'
Luk 19:15 "The man was made king and came back. At once he ordered his servants to appear before him, in order to find out how much they had earned.
Luk 19:16 The first one came and said, 'Sir, I have earned ten gold coins with the one you gave me.'
Luk 19:17 'Well done,' he said; 'you are a good servant! Since you were faithful in small matters, I will put you in charge of ten cities.'
Luk 19:18 The second servant came and said, 'Sir, I have earned five gold coins with the one you gave me.'
Luk 19:19 To this one he said, 'You will be in charge of five cities.'
Luk 19:20 Another servant came and said, 'Sir, here is your gold coin; I kept it hidden in a handkerchief.
Luk 19:21 I was afraid of you, because you are a hard man. You take what is not yours and reap what you did not plant.'
Luk 19:22 He said to him, 'You bad servant! I will use your own words to condemn you! You know that I am a hard man, taking what is not mine and reaping what I have not planted.
Luk 19:23 Well, then, why didn't you put my money in the bank? Then I would have received it back with interest when I returned.'
Luk 19:24 Then he said to those who were standing there, 'Take the gold coin away from him and give it to the servant who has ten coins.'
Luk 19:25 But they said to him, 'Sir, he already has ten coins!'
Luk 19:26 'I tell you,' he replied, 'that to those who have something, even more will be given; but those who have nothing, even the little that they have will be taken away from them.

Exodus 23:1
"Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil..."

Even though the crowd
Is sinning greatly now
To live a holy life
The Lord will show you how

We shall not follow the multitude
To do their awful deeds
For we do not want to reap
From sowing poisoned seeds

JUST FOR TODAY: God has a commandment for you today....and everyday: "To believe in the name of His son, Jesus Christ, AND to Love one another as He (Jesus) commanded us". If you obey His commands, that means that YOU live in HIM, and HE lives in YOU. This is what a Loving Relationship means with the Lord. How do you know that Jesus lives in YOU? You know it "by the Spirit that he gave you". Do not be decieved by any other reprobate Spirit. If it is not a Spirit of Love in your life, it did not come from the Lord Jesus. (1 John 3:23-24) ~Walker

Luk 19:2 a man named Zacchaeus appeared. He was a leading tax collector, and a rich one at that!
Luk 19:3 He was trying to see who Jesus was, but he couldn't do so due to the crowd, since he was a short man.
Luk 19:4 So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore tree to see Jesus, who was going to pass that way.
Luk 19:5 When Jesus came to the tree, he looked up and said, "Zacchaeus, hurry and come down! I must stay at your house today."

Exodus 23:20
"Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and bring thee into the place which I have prepared."

God has sent an Angel
To hold unto your hand
Until you reach your destination
In the promise land

He will lead and guide
Every step you take
So that the end result
Cannot be a mistake

JUST FOR TODAY: Why do we not always do the right thing? Why do we not help someone who needs help when we have the ability to do so? These things happen when our own heart "condems" us with greed or fear. We say things like, "I've worked hard for what I have and I ain't givin' it to some lazy so and so!" (greed) or "I just barely have enough for myself. I can't give anything to anybody else". (fear) Don't listen to your condemning hear "for God is greater than our hearts, and He knows everything." (1John 3:20). When you don't let your evil heart condemn you, you will have confidence in God and recieve whatever you ask of Him. Why? Because you have obeyed His commands and done the things that please Him. Please read ALL of 1 John, chapter 3. ~Walker

Exodus 20:20
"...Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not."

When circumstances scare you badly
You don't know where to turn
There is a real good possibility
God has a lesson for you to learn

He may have allowed this problem
To see what you will do
To see if the fear of God
Truly dwells in you!

Acts 10:31
"...Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God."

God in heaven, He hears our prayers
And remembers all our alms
He will send His angels to miniser to us
And all our fears He calms

If He listened to Cornelius
He will certainly listen to us
For He's no respecter of persons
On that fact youo can trust

Acts 10:4
"Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God."

Our prayers are not wasted
Our alms are noticed too
They come before the Lord
As a memorial for me and you

That means He's taking notice
Of all the prayers we pray
And He will not fail to answer them
Could be this very day

JUST FOR TODAY: You CAN control your thoughts by Trusting God in all of your thinking. Reject all negative and sinful thoughts the second they come into your mind. Confess those kind of thoughts to the Lord and leave them with Him; then you can forget about those bad thoughts and go on your merry way. Practice thinking about how much you put your Trust in Jesus, how Thankful you are for what He has done for you, and how much you Love Him because He Loved you first. When you practice this kind of thinking, it soon becomes more natural and consistant; controlling your thinking in this manner will keep you in His Presence and your mind at Peace. Thinking Spiritually gives you great Power over the natural and physical things of this world. ~Walker

Luk 17:12 As he was going into a village, ten lepers met him. They stood at a distance
Luk 17:13 and shouted, "Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!"
Luk 17:14 When Jesus saw them, he told them, "Go and show yourselves to the priests." While they were going, they were made clean.
Luk 17:15 But one of them, when he saw that he had been healed, came back and praised God with a loud voice.

John 9:4
"I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work."

Let us heed the scripture
And work while it is day
For I assure you brother
Night is on the way

I see the dark clouds gathering
They're coming closer still
It's time to work with all our might
And do the Fathers will

JUST FOR TODAY: Don't you think it is about time to stop clinging to your old ways.....the ways that the world have taught you and have you in a rut? No, it's not a rut, it's a PIT!! And you will stay there as long as you try to control all the circumstances of your life by yourself. This world is never going to allow you to have a total secure or predictable lifestyle, but when you put you Trust in the Lord Jesus, a whole new glorious adventure is open to you. You must always be on the lookout for what God has prepared for you. God is always doing something new, and it is always much better than anything the world has to offer. If your eyes are on the world or yourself, you will miss out on the great things God has in store for you. Keep your eyes upon Jesus!! ~Walker

JUST FOR TODAY: Praise, Worship, and Gratitude is what clears the way to the heart of God. When you clear the way between you and God, His blessings will fall upon you in amazing fashion, and the greatest blessing of all is being close to Him. He is the Lord Almighty; He is wonderful; He is the Bread of Life and the Light of the World; He is Living Water and He is full of Mercy and Grace!! He is always Faithful to Love you and defend you, even when you are wrong. When others turn their backs on you and forsake you, He will be there to lift you up with His strong right hand. Does He not deserve your Praise, Worship, Gratitude, and Love continually throughtout this day?? May abundant Joy and Peace be with you in His Presence every day. (Psalm 100:4) ~Walker

"...And it was now dark, and Jesus was not come to them..."

Sometimes the road gets dark
Before the Lord shows up
But keep trusting in Him daily
He will surely fill your cup

Right before the dawn
So keep holding to His hand
And your fears will soon be gone

Luk 16:13 "No servant can serve two masters, because either he will hate one and love the other, or be loyal to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and wealth!"
Luk 16:14 Now the Pharisees, who love money, had been listening to all this and began to ridicule Jesus.
Luk 16:15 So he told them, "You try to justify yourselves in front of people, but God knows your hearts, because what is highly valued by people is detestable to God.
