JUST FOR TODAY: Like most of you, I Love Psalm 23. It is such a beautuful Psalm with so many wonderful promises; promises of provision and protection. But as I read it this morning I recieved a great revelation about verse six. In the past I always thought verse six was also a promise from God for provision of "goodness and mercy" for me, but read it again. It says goodness and mercy shall "FOLLOW" me. God's promises and provisions do not "follow" us; they are always in front of us. Goodness and mercy are the qualities that should follow us as we go through life; they are the trail that we should leave behind us as we go through life for others. If we put our trust in Jesus and live our lives leaving a trail of goodness and mercy toward others, we will surely dwell in the house of the Lord for ever. ~Walker

JUST FOR TODAY: "Jesus said unto him, " Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment." (Matthew 22:37-38). To Love God with all your heart does not mean to Love him literally with the organ that pumps your blood, but from the very center of your being. Your soul (mind, will, and emotions) should be filled with Love for God and smack-dab in the middle of all you do and all that you are. This commandment is number one for a reason; this is where true life and living really begin. If you start with getting #1 right, you are going to have a great day today no matter what your circumstances may be. ~Walker

JUST FOR TODAY: No matter who is around you, they are going to "...hear of your affairs". In other words, people around you are listening to the things you say and watching how you live your life. Are you and your friends "standing fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel"? There should never be any doubt in the minds of those around you of your Faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is your responsiblity on the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but to allow all those you come in contact with you to see that belief in action. Today is the day, and the time is now for all believers to "Christian Up"!!! "Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ...." (Philippians 1:27-30) ~Walker

Eph 1:18  I ask that your minds may be opened to see his light, so that you will know what is the hope to which he has called you, how rich are the wonderful blessings he promises his people,
Eph 1:19  and how very great is his power at work in us who believe. This power working in us is the same as the mighty strength
Eph 1:20  which he used when he raised Christ from death and seated him at his right side in the heavenly world.

JUST FOR TODAY: "Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we (God's people) will remember the Lord our God." (Psalm 20:7) In the time of King David, war chariots pulled by fast and powerful horses were the most powerful weapons of the day. In our time, some folks are still putting their trust in what they consider to be the powerful things of this world; economics, politics, even religion, but they too are like horses and chariots. "They are brought down and fallen: but we (God's people) are risen, and stand upright." (Psalm 20:8) Will you remember the Lord your God today? Will you rise up and stand upright for the things in your life that you know are Godly and the right thing to do? Will you put your trust in the one who will never be "brought down and fallen"? If we are truly a nation of God's people, it is high time we started acting like it. ~Walker

If a person is asked to do something, especially for the church and they say, "I'll pray about it," it is probably best to look for someone else.  Seems to me that a person should already have been praying, and they would know the mind of God.  There may come times in a person's life that they don't have time to "agonize" over prayer, but must make a quick decision; that is one of the values of a prayer life.

     People like Praying Hyde, E.M. Bounds, George Mueller, David Wilkerson and a host of others truly amaze me.  These men knew the discipline of prayer.  How many people can spend, or will spend, time in a "prayer closet" much less wholeheartedly pray?  perhaps that is why we remember saints like these.  Men, when they prayed, knew how to get to the heart of God because they prayed with their heart.

     It is my sincere belief that prayer must be meant; it should be from the heart.  I have tried prayer closets and found that I do not have the discipline.  It was frustrating for I knew that was one of the key spiritual disciplines and would beat myself because I had problems following through with it.  I read the books, the how to's, the manuals, the gimmicks on prayer.  Then I happened across a little Christian classic on prayer by Rosalind Rinker, "Conversational Prayer."  What an impact!  I discovered that my prayer closet was my life.  That's what Paul meant when he said to pray without ceasing.

    It goes back to the key ingredient--sincerity.  If I am talking with a friend, we have a relationship and the words mean something.  That is the way prayer is with the Lord, it should be like discussing things with a best friend.  I have heard that a person, just recently again in fact, needs to yell to the Lord.  Hmmm, I don't yell at my wife, I don't yell at my friends; is it that God is hard of hearing?  I think that was a question that Elijah asked the servants of Baal.

    Again, I admire men like Bounds and the others with their dedication and discipline to pray.  It is truly a blessing and something for which we should continue to strive.  I also like what George Mueller replied when someone asked him how much time he spent in prayer.  "Hours every day.  But I live in the spirit of prayer.  I pray as I walk and when I lie down and when I arise.  And the answers are always coming."

JUST FOR TODAY: "Jesus said, "I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing." (John 15:5). If you are doing "nothing" that means you have lost YOUR focus on Jesus because Jesus will never leave or forsake YOU. He will ALWAYS remain in you, but the question is will YOU remain in HIM?? Will you open you Spiritual eyes and see where He is at work and join Him?? Will you open you Spiritual ears to listen to the guidance and instruction of His Holy Spirit?? We must close our mouths to making excuses of why no fruit is being produced in our lives. It is not enough for Jesus to be in us; We must also be in Him. ~Walker

JUST FOR TODAY: The Apostle Paul wrote to the Philippians that he wanted them to understand something; He wanted them to know that all of his circumstances, good and bad, happened to him to further the Gospel of Christ. (Philippians 1:12) What a wonderful frame of mind. Paul was so focused on Jesus and he KNEW that God was in control of ALL of his circumstances, that he never complained in any situation that he found himself. His desire was that his bonds in Christ would be made known in all the palace, and in all other places; even in prison. (Philippians 1:13)  We could turn this country around if we would all glorify Christ today; no matter what our circumstances. Let the rest of the world complain, but let us Praise our Lord of Grace and Peace.  ~Walker

JUST FOR TODAY: Are you "...Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ , unto the glory and praise of God." ? The answer is "YES" if you you accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. Born again believers are all being filled with the righteousness of Jesus and the fruits of His Spirit. "...the fruit of the Spirit is Love, Joy, Peace, Forgiveness, Gentleness, Goodness, Faith, Meekness, and Moderation; agaist such there is no law." (Galatians 5:22-23) It is truly wonderful to be "filled" with such good qualities, but it is even more wonderful if you release them into the world for the sake of the Gospel of Christ. Mar 1:40  A man suffering from a dreaded skin disease came to Jesus, knelt down, and begged him for help. "If you want to," he said, "you can make me clean."
Mar 1:41  Jesus was filled with pity, and reached out and touched him. "I do want to," he answered. "Be clean!"
Mar 1:42  At once the disease left the man, and he was clean.
