JUST FOR TODAY: When you get in your car today, take a look at the size of your rear view mirror, and then take a look at the size of your windshield. Taking that into account, what do you think is most important; looking at where you have been, or looking at where you are going?? Paul didn't claim to know everthing but he said there is one thing that I do know, "forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." This doesn't mean to look into the future, but look at what's in front of you in the present. God is calling you today to have Faith in His Son, Jesus Christ. Now that is a prize!!(Philippians 3:13-14) ~Walker

JUST FOR TODAY: Do not allow yourself to desire worthless self-satisfaction, provoking one another, or envying one another. Instead, if you live in and by the Spirit of Jesus Christ, you should also walk or act in that same Spirit. Fruit of this Spirit is produced from the inside out. Let the fruit that is on the inside of you get to the outside!! That fruit is Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Gentleness, Goodness, Faith, Meekness, and moderation. The fruit of the Spirit of Jesus Christ is mighty tasty to all who taste it and is meant to be shared by all. (Galations 5:22-26) ~Walker

JUST FOR TODAY: Most of us will face situations today that could cause us to be full of care and worry if we allowed it. But instead of worrying about our problems, why don't we take our problems and everything else to the Lord in prayer. And let us let all of our request be made known to God with true thanksgiving; thankful that we have the privilege to go boldly to the throne of God and He hears and answers. Nobody understands the wonderful peace of God that keeps our hearts and minds through Jesus Christ when we pray, but oh my, aren't you thankful for it!! (Phillipians 4:6,7) ~Walker

JUST FOR TODAY: Repeat after me: I will do....EVERTHING that I do.....without complaining..... and without argueing. Try doing this for one solid week and see how much better your life and the life of those around you can be. What does this prove? It will prove that your will is lined up with God's will and that you truly want to live your life to bring HIM pleasure; that it will be known that you are a sincere child of god without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom you will shine as a light in the world; you will be lifting up the word of life (Jesus Christ). Come on people!! Are we real or play-like Christians?? (Philippians 2:14-16) ~Walker

Php 3:7  But Christ has shown me that what I once thought was valuable is worthless.
Php 3:8  Nothing is as wonderful as knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. I have given up everything else and count it all as garbage. All I want is Christ
Php 3:9  and to know that I belong to him.

2Co 7:10  When God makes you feel sorry enough to turn to him and be saved, you don't have anything to feel bad about. But when this world makes you feel sorry, it can cause your death.

JUST FOR TODAY: When people we know and fellowship with "fall off the wagon" so to speak, many times the so called "good" Christians that we are will give them the "left foot of fellowship" and are oh so quick to condemn our brother. But the Bible says that if someone makes a mistake, we should show them the error of their way and convert them back to traveling the right road. If we act in this manner, we not only save a soul from death but we also hide a multitude of our own sins. (james 5:19-20). But I thought "fervent Love" amoung ourselves was what covered a multitude of sins? (1 Peter 4:8) Could it be that Peter told us WHAT to have and James shows us HOW to use it??? Our actions speak much louder than our words. ~Walker

"In the fight I survived.  In that survival I found my salvation."

"Many of us are not thirsty for God because we have quenched our thirst at other fountains."

               --Erwin Lutzer

Perhaps there should be a holy fear that is on the land, but I think most would not recognize it even if it were so.  A wasteland is coming, if not already here.  Imagine, this land, once declared to be a "city on a hill," once sending out missionaries to the darkest parts of the earth is not becoming a wasteland.  Oh, I'm not speaking of a wasteland due to nuclear attack, but one that is spiritually devoid.  This is a wasteland filled with the unknown monsters that lurk in the minds of those that want to deceive, that want to destroy the very foundations of life.

One of the definitions of a wasteland is "bewildering vastness, perilousness or unchecked profusion."  The mocking and scorning of God will not go unnoticed by Him.  Only so long will He put with the skeptics and cynics.  But to my chagrin, it is these folks that are going to be our leaders in a few years.  The statistics show that only 4% of the people born between 1984 and the present were raised in a Biblically-based worldview home.  Think a fight is upon us now, give it another twenty years.  It makes me shudder.

Then I think of what the church is doing to fight in this war.  When was the last time you heard a sermon showing the evils of Islam?  Maybe in the last month there has been a sermon showing the dangers of Secular Humanism or Cosmic Humanism.  No?  Surely there has come an outcry against, in my mind possibly the most dangerous of all, Postmodernism.  No?  If the church is not showing the dangers and how the holy Word of God can stand up to these attacks what can we then expect of the generation being raised?  Are the vultures standing there ready to pluck the dead carcasses.  It is the Gospel of Jesus Christ that has the answers to life and eternity, but I fear we are sending the children out and letting them think that pluralism is okay.

Maybe it is time for survival training.  If the church is refusing to do so, the parents must take an even more active role in doing so.  However, from what I have seen the opposite is true.  It seems that the unspoken yet loud cry is for the devil to take the children.  Forget the atrocities of abortion, what about the atrocity of giving the children over to Satan?

JUST FOR TODAY: Have you ever noticed that people who the world thinks can't be successful or can't "cut it" are always able to cut anything that needs cutting IF they have surrendered their life to Jesus? Surrender to men indicates physical defeat and weakness, but surrender to Jesus Christ releases an incredible amount of power in our life and Spiritual victory throughout eternity. "For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, EVEN our faith." (1 John 5:4)~Walker

Psa 119:14  Obeying your instructions brings as much happiness as being rich.
Psa 119:15  I will study your teachings and follow your footsteps.
Psa 119:16  I will take pleasure in your laws and remember your words.
Psa 119:17  Treat me with kindness, LORD, so that I may live and do what you say.

"It is difficulties that show what men are."

               --Epictetus

"No pain, no palm; no thorn, no throne; no gall, no glory; no cross, no crown."

               --William Penn

Adversity!  It comes to everyone.  It is inevitable.  There will be obstacles and challenges in life.  Adversity will come.  The question is what will be done when does show itself?

It will come in various ways and means.  It may be an actual battle or linger on and on into a campaign or war.  It may be a little snare that causes a person to stumble.  It may be a simple pin prick, nothing much, but dirt can enter thus infection.

This adversity may be a flesh and blood battle against a foe, or it may be a war against the flesh.  It may be an emotional ordeal or physical suffering.  It may be a giant with a sword clearly seen, a sword as Damocles had hanging over his head, or a covert activity sneaking in unawares in the form of compromising doctrine.

Adversity may take the form of armed conflict.  If this is the case there will then be many types of adversity added to the fray.  It may be an attempt to deceive, as the devil is the master of deception.  There will be more and more deception moving across the land.  Armed conflict is easily seen, whereas deception is often hard to perceive.  There will be produced the "lie" and many will receive it as the truth.

To counter this there must be Christian soldiers--disciples.  Disciples are to be made; that is, a person who cannot be deceived.  A disciple adheres and practices his instructor's teaching--his doctrine.  This is the person who is in the fight for life.  He understands adversity.  He understands the words of Proverbs, "Take hold of instruction; do not let go.  Guard her, for she is your life."  (4:13, NASB)

I have written over and over the value and necessity of guarding the truth, of adhering to true doctrine.  Let me reemphasize with the words of Paul to Timothy, "But evil men and imposters will proceed from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.  You, however, continue in the things you have learned and become convinced of, knowing from whom you have learned them, and that from childhood you have known the sacred writings which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus." (2 Timothy 3:13-15, NASB)

Adversity--be ready for it will come and continue to come.  Different forms, different times, different ways for different people, but be ready to face it in whatever form it shows itself.  Don't run and hide from it as some and turn "their ears from the truth."

JUST FOR TODAY: Some how, some way let's tell somebody about Jesus today. If your unsaved loved ones, friends, co-workers or strangers had any idea how great the gift of God is; if they only knew how real and powerful Jesus is, like the woman at the well, they too might ask of him, and he would give them "living water". People can't come to Jesus unless someone who really knows him tells them about Him. There is no greater gift you could give some one than sharing "the good news" about Jesus. (John 4:10) ~Walker

Jud 1:25  to the only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, might, and authority, from all ages past, and now, and forever and ever! Amen.

JUST FOR TODAY: The Spiritual decline not only in this nation but all over the world has steadily grown worse and worse over the last 60 years. Don't you think it's time to put a stop to the growth of such an ungodly culture? It is high time that we build back what we have wasted; we must raise up what has become desolate; we must repair the wasting of a Godly culture. I am talking about the erosion of our churches, our families, and our individual ethics and morals. We need to stop worrying about if we've got milk. The question we need to be asking our society is do you have God? "Let us hear the conclusion to the whole matter: Fear (respect and be reverent) God, and keep His commandments: for this is the whole duty of man." (Ecclesiastes 12:13, Isaiah 61:4) ~Walker

JUST FOR TODAY: There are many people out there that are completely destroyed and "burned out" by the lifestyle of todays culture; Some folks spend every waking hour grieving and mourning over the circumstances of their family; People are under such a spirit of heaviness they can no longer function and bare that kind of stress on their life. What can you do about it? It is your Christian duty and calling to point out to them that only God will give them beauty for their ashes; only God will remove the mourning and grieving and replace it with a life of JOY; only God can turn the spirit of a heavy heart into one of Praise!! Tell them about Jesus so they can be called "trees of righteousness", planted by the Lord himself that HE might be glorified!!! (Isaiah 61:3) ~Walker
