JUST FOR TODAY: What shall you do today about the adversity and the affliction that is before you; will you weep about it or will you pray about it?  God has promised that He will be "very gracious" to you when you raise your voice and cry out to Him, but don't expect God to answer prayers if He doesn't hear them.  Don't shove God in a dark corner of your life and expect to live successfully without Him; Could be the adversity and affliction you face today are your teachers for doing just that in the past.  Best open your eyes and take at look at what God is trying to show you.  "And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it,....." ~Pastor Lynn  (Isaiah 30:19-21)

Joel 2:12 "But even now," says the LORD, "repent sincerely and return to me with fasting and weeping and mourning.
Joel 2:13 Let your broken heart show your sorrow; tearing your clothes is not enough." Come back to the LORD your God. He is kind and full of mercy; he is patient and keeps his promise; he is always ready to forgive and not punish.

Joh 10:9 I am the gate. Those who come in by me will be saved; they will come in and go out and find pasture.
Joh 10:10 The thief comes only in order to steal, kill, and destroy. I have come in order that you might have life---life in all its fullness.

CONCERNING ANOTHER HORRIBLE SCHOOL SCHOOTING TODAY: The solution to this problem is NOT more gun control proposed by all the liberal left wingers out there.  You can't do away with fire.  You fight fire with fire.  This tragedy did not happen because some nut had a gun, it happened because nobody had the guts or the firepower to stop him!!  When are we going to wake up and start defending ourselves Spiritually, Emotionally, and Physically??  As for me and my family, do not tread on us because I am armed with the sword of the Spirit in one hand and my Ruger pistol in the the other.  And I fully intend to stay that way!!!~Walker

JUST FOR TODAY: Step out today Trusting God completely from the very center of your being; with all your heart!!  You make a wise decision when you do this because God is the only one who is completely Trustworthy and Infalible.  What will you "lean" on today to hold you up and keep you from falling?  Your own wisdom and understanding??  Don't you think that God is just a tad smarter than you are??  Whatever direction you travel today, make sure that you consult with the Lord in prayer before you take a single step, and the Holy Spirit will guide you in the way that you should go.  Any life journey you take today will be more pleasurable if the Lord Jesus is your traveling companion!!  ~Pastor Lynn  (Proverbs 3:5-6)

1Jn 4:15 If we declare that Jesus is the Son of God, we live in union with God and God lives in union with us.
1Jn 4:16 And we ourselves know and believe the love which God has for us. God is love, and those who live in love live in union with God and God lives in union with them.
1Jn 4:17 Love is made perfect in us in order that we may have courage on the Judgment Day; and we will have it because our life in this world is the same as Christ's.

JUST FOR TODAY: Don't be afraid of Holiness.  The word "Holy" sometimes strikes fear in our heart because we think it is something that we cannot attain.  We think we cannot be "good enough" to be Holy.  That is a lie from Hell!!  Being Holy doesn't mean that we have to be "better" than anybody; it simply means that our life is set aside or "sanctified" for sacred use by the Lord Jesus.  May the Lord Jesus "make you to increase and abound in Love one toward another, and toward all men... To the end He may establish your hearts unblameable in Holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all His saints.  If you are not being used by God, then you are not ready for the coming of Christ.  (1 Thessalonians 3:12-13) ~Pastor Lynn

1Jn 3:20  If our conscience condemns us, we know that God is greater than our conscience and that he knows everything.  1Jn 3:21    And so, my dear friends, if our conscience does not condemn us, we have courage in God's presence.  1Jn 3:22  We receive from him whatever we ask, because we obey his commands and do what pleases him.

Comment by Pastor Lynn Kirkland on December 12, 2012 at 6:30am

Jn 3:1  See how much the Father has loved us! His love is so great that we are called God's children---and so, in fact, we are. This is why the world does not know us: it has not known God.  1Jn 3:2  My dear friends, we are now God's children, but it is not yet clear what we shall become. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he really is.

"A man should stop ever' now and again and ask himself what he was doing, where he was going, and how he planned to get there. And the hardest thing to learn is that there aren't any shortcuts."
--Louis L'Amour

Almost to the summit for it's just past the timberline. Whew, it has been some trip, but before you cross over to the otherside take a look at your backtrail. You need to do it; the year is almost over so take a look back at the what the what might have beens, the what should have beens, and the things that were. Probably see some that were good and some that were not so good. But no matter how hard you wish now that things were different they aren't.
Maybe it is the timberline that causes one to ponder the what ifs of life. I have always enjoyed camping just below timberline. It is unique and always plenty of firewood. Life is harsh at timberline and it is place that is almost impossible to visit in the winter. The wind doesn't just blow, it howls and it almost seems to carry with it a dagger that is ready to stab. No, the timberline is a place to visit, perhaps because it reminds us of the harshness of the world, or the reality of poor decisions. The pines do indeed sigh, as does the soul when it takes a moment to look back at yesterday--at 2012.
Take a look, maybe even build a fire to heat up some coffee. Remember, the coffee is not as hot up there and will cool off quickly. To stay at timberline would do the same thing to the soul. It is only a place to visit, to pass through as one continues to travel over the pass to the other side. The gnarled, windblown trees are a reminder to a person of what their life could be if they do not continue to travel forward.
As you get to the summit, now above timberline, take a moment to look out over the vista. That's tomorrow. That's 2013. Think of Moses standing on the mountain looking out over the new life that the Israelites would be taking. He saw the land of promise; the land of tomorrow. He cannot travel on over to the other side, but he sees what awaits the people he has led up the mountain through the wilderness.
The view is grand. In the distance there are the evergreen forests, and a lake or two. Off in the distance there is a stream meandering down the valley. It looks so grand, so majestic and almost takes the breath away to just see it. But remember also, that 2012 started out the same way. The future was before you with its vast promises. The issue is now to get there for what is unseen are the obstacles on the path as you move down the mountain. There may be ravines to cross, there may be gorges or canyons that must be traveled around as they cannot be seen from here. Then, just as this year there will be the climb up the next mountain. No, it may not be as hard or it could prove to be an even steeper climb.
So rest a minute, reflect on the trail that was traveled last year. Then begin to move along the trail that the Lord is taking you. Now, there is the assurance! We rest in the hands of the Lord, for He sees everything along the trail and is our ever present Guide.
"He grants a treasure of good sense to the godly. He is their shield protecting those who walk with integrity. He guards the paths of justice and protects those who are faithful to him."
--Proverbs 2:7-8 (NLT)

1Jn 1:8  If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and there is no truth in us.  1Jn 1:9  But if we confess our sins to God, he will keep his promise and do what is right: he will forgive us our sins and purify us from all our wrongdoing.

2Pe 3:8  But do not forget one thing, my dear friends! There is no difference in the Lord's sight between one day and a thousand years; to him the two are the same. 2Pe 3:9  The Lord is not slow to do what he has promised, as some think.

2Pe 1:19

So we are even more confident of the message proclaimed by the prophets. You will do well to pay attention to it, because it is like a lamp shining in a dark place until the Day dawns and the light of the morning star shines in your hearts.

2Pe 1:20

Above all else, however, remember that none of us can explain by ourselves a prophecy in the Scriptures.

2Pe 1:21

For no prophetic message ever came just from the human will, but people were under the control of the Holy Spirit as they spoke the message that came from God.

JUST FOR TODAY: There are only two kinds of people in the world; those that are with Jesus and those that are without.  Those "with" and those "without" both only have X amount of time in this life.  That is why those "with" should "walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time".  In other words, we don't have all the time in the world to go to those "without" Christ before it is too late.  Choose your words wisely; "Let your speech be always with GRACE, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer every man."  Harsh words must be replaced with the kindness of unmerited favor.  A little salt makes food taste better; make sure that your words are tasty as well.  (Colossians 4:5-6) ~Pastor Lynn

JUST FOR TODAY: Make this day a day of excellence in all that you do!!  What ever you're gonna do today, do it with all of your heart; do it as unto the Lord, and not unto men.  Why?  Well, who do you think will reward you with the greatest inheritance- man or God??  Your most excellent choice today would be to serve the Lord Christ!!  And don't forget: "... he that doeth wrong shall recieve for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons". (Colossians 3:25)  You will reap what you sow this day, and bad circimstances will never get any better if you continue to make bad choices.  Make excellent choices today and may the Lord richly bless you in all that you do.  (Colossians 3:23-25)  ~Pastor Lynn

1Pe 5:7   Throw all your worry on him, because he cares for you.

1Pe 5:8  Be clear-minded and alert. Your opponent, the devil, is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.

1Pe 5:9

Resist him and be firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kinds of suffering.

JUST FOR TODAY: Don't give God your money, your time, or your "good works" without giving Him what He really wants the most...Your heart!!  Giving God your heart is what brings you into His Presence; in that secret place is what keeps you on the right path in life and awakens your soul to the fullest Joy known to mankind.  If you will only search for God's Presence and His Joy, He will surely bless you with it because He is searching for you to give it to you.  You give Him your Heart and He gives you His Presence and Joy; now that's RELATIONSHIP!!!!  (Psalm 16:8-11) ~Pastor Lynn
