JUST FOR TODAY: As believers and followers of Christ, we know that our main objective and goal in life is to be more like Him, conformed to His image.  As we struggle in a busy, ungodly world to accomplish our goal of becoming more like Him, we often overlook the one thing that would help us stay focused on Him and therefore get closer to Him and His goal for us.  That one thing is PRAYER!!  Jesus... did not constantly preach, He did not constantly heal, He did not constantly work miracles, but the one thing that He DID do constantly was PRAY!!  Would you please join me today in making a commitment to increase your prayer life; that is the amount of time you spend in prayer.  Any decision you make, any action that you take should first be taken to the Lord in prayer.  Pray about all things, and pray continually.  Jesus never did anything without consulting the Father FIRST.  Let's be more like Him.  (1 Thessalonians 5:17)  ~Pastor Lynn

Mat 28:18

Jesus drew near and said to them, "I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth.

Mat 28:19

Go, then, to all peoples everywhere and make them my disciples: baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,

Mat 28:20

and teach them to obey everything I have commanded you. And I will be with you always, to the end of the age."

Act 1:8

But when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, you will be filled with power, and you will be witnesses for me in Jerusalem, in all of Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."

Joh 3:16

For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not die but have eternal life.

Php 2:7 Instead of this, of his own free will he gave up all he had, and took the nature of a servant. He became like a human being and appeared in human likeness.
Php 2:8 He was humble and walked the path of obedience all the way to death--- his death on the cross.

Rom 6:6 And we know that our old being has been put to death with Christ on his cross, in order that the power of the sinful self might be destroyed, so that we should no longer be the slaves of sin.

OUR TIME...IMPORTANT TO GOD
This is closely related to giving God our talent.  If the craftsmen were to give God their talent in constructing the temple, then they were going to have to give him a good amount of their time as well.  Next to our money our time is probably our most precious commodity.  It seems like we never have enough time.  But if we are to give our talent to God we must also give our time to God.  It takes time to prepare for and teach a Sunday School class or Bible study.  It takes time to clean the church.  It takes time to make repairs.  It takes time to minister to our community. It takes time to pray for someone.  Everything takes time and so we must be willing to carve the necessary time out of our busy schedules.
God expects us to generously and willingly give him our tithe, talent and time.  That is the sign of loyalty.

Psa 23:1 The LORD is my shepherd; I have everything I need.
Psa 23:2 He lets me rest in fields of green grass and leads me to quiet pools of fresh water.
Psa 23:3 He gives me new strength. He guides me in the right paths, as he has promised.
Psa 23:4 Even if I go through the deepest darkness, I will not be afraid, LORD, for you are with me. Your shepherd's rod and staff protect me.
Psa 23:5 You prepare a banquet for me, where all my enemies can see me; you welcome me as an honored guest and fill my cup to the brim.
Psa 23:6 I know that your goodness and love will be with me all my life; and your house will be my home as long as I live.

Rom 8:30 And so those whom God set apart, he called; and those he called, he put right with himself, and he shared his glory with them.

Psa 138:6 Though you are above us all, you care for humble people, and you keep a close watch on everyone who is proud.
Psa 138:7 I am surrounded by trouble, but you protect me against my angry enemies. With your own powerful arm you keep me safe.
Psa 138:8 You, LORD, will always treat me with kindness. Your love never fails. You have made us what we are. Don't give up on us now!

Psa 107:1 Shout praises to the LORD! He is good to us, and his love never fails.
Psa 107:2 Everyone the LORD has rescued from trouble should praise him,
Psa 107:3 everyone he has brought from the east and the west, the north and the south.
Psa 107:4 Some of you were lost in the scorching desert, far from a town.
Psa 107:5 You were hungry and thirsty and about to give up.
Psa 107:6 You were in serious trouble, but you prayed to the LORD, and he rescued you.

1Pe 2:1 Stop being hateful! Quit trying to fool people, and start being sincere. Don't be jealous or say cruel things about others.
1Pe 2:2 Be like newborn babies who are thirsty for the pure spiritual milk that will help you grow and be saved.
1Pe 2:3 You have already found out how good the Lord really is.

Psa 17:6 I pray to you, God, because you will help me. Listen and answer my prayer!
Psa 17:7 Show your wonderful love. Your mighty arm protects those who run to you for safety from their enemies.

Col 2:7 Plant your roots in Christ and let him be the foundation for your life. Be strong in your faith, just as you were taught. And be grateful.
Col 2:8 Don't let anyone fool you by using senseless arguments. These arguments may sound wise, but they are only human teachings. They come from the powers of this world and not from Christ.

Comment by Pastor Lynn Kirkland on May 18, 2013 at 7:40am

Col 2:9 God lives fully in Christ.
Col 2:10 And you are fully grown because you belong to Christ, who is over every power and authority.

1Jn 2:3 When we obey God, we are sure that we know him.
1Jn 2:4 But if we claim to know him and don't obey him, we are lying and the truth isn't in our hearts.
1Jn 2:5 We truly love God only when we obey him as we should, and then we know that we belong to him.
1Jn 2:6 If we say we are his, we must follow the example of Christ.

Ti 6:17 Warn the rich people of this world not to be proud or to trust in wealth that is easily lost. Tell them to have faith in God, who is rich and blesses us with everything we need to enjoy life.

Comment by Pastor Lynn Kirkland on May 15, 2013 at 7:37am

Act 13:38 My friends, the message is that Jesus can forgive your sins! The Law of Moses could not set you free from all your sins.
Act 13:39 But everyone who has faith in Jesus is set free.

Comment by Pastor Lynn Kirkland on May 14, 2013 at 7:27am

Rom 8:15 For the Spirit that God has given you does not make you slaves and cause you to be afraid; instead, the Spirit makes you God's children, and by the Spirit's power we cry out to God, "Father! my Father!"
Rom 8:16 God's Spirit joins himself to our spirits to declare that we are God's children.
Rom 8:17 Since we are his children, we will possess the blessings he keeps for his people, and we will also possess with Christ what God has kept for him; for if we share Christ's suffering, we will also share his glory.
Rom 8:18 I consider that what we suffer at this present time cannot be compared at all with the glory that is going to be revealed to us.
