Are you fearful or faithful...Are you withholding from being faithful with what God has given you? Are you afraid of the bad economy?

CONSIDER THIS...

God doesn’t need a healthy, normal womb for a woman to conceive and bear a child. In Judges 13:2-3 (conception and birth of Samson) the scripture says,  “And there was a certain man of Zorah, of the family of the Danites, whose name was Manoah; and his wife was barren, and bare not. And the angel of the LORD appeared unto the woman, and said unto her, Behold now, thou art barren, and bearest not: but thou shalt conceive, and bear a son.”

Not convinced?  In Psalm 113.9  the scripture says “He maketh the barren woman to keep house, and to be a joyful mother of children. Praise ye the LORD.” And in Luke 1:5-37 the scripture tells us that Elizabeth was barren and well advanced in years, but God brought forth a child out of a barren womb.

So what is my point? God doesn’t need a healthy economy to supply our needs! At this time in history our country seems to be slipping away from us, and the future is very uncertain. But we must remember that most of the time God provides “just enough” at “just the right time”. So what must we do? We must not fear … but remain faithful in all areas of our Christian life. And yes, that most assuredly includes our giving, as well as keeping our commitments to whomever! This is called integrity, and it reflects Christian character.

God can make the bitter water sweet … He can bring water out of the rock … God wants daily trust in Him, not trust in our economy. Remember the Lord’s Prayer ... “Give us this day our daily bread” (not weekly, monthly or yearly).  I’m not saying we should not plan for the future, but we must trust God with the future! In fact, it is unwise not to invest for the future. However, when times get tough is not the time to withhold our faithful giving to the work of God.

God can supply our needs even in a bad economy, just as easily as He can in a prosperous one. Since the “great depression” we Americans have lived a relatively prosperous and comfortable lifestyle. Unlike many countries in which my husband and I have traveled, the U.S. (regardless of our many faults) has enjoyed the blessings of God — many of which are due to our Godly principles and unselfish giving to those in need. That’s why all foreign people desire to come to this great land of the FREE. Many say that in the future Social Security may not exist, but God’s security is inexhaustible and limitless!

So don’t fear, but BE FAITHFULGod still specializes in miracles which are not dependent on our economy.

THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS NOT IN RECESSION!

JUST FOR TODAY: Jesus said, "COME UNTO ME, AND I WILL GIVE YOU REST". Why do we need rest anyway? Because life can be very harsh and demanding in this old sinful world. Even the strongest of us get weak and weary at times so don't be ashamed of it. Jesus doesn't think less of you because you are weak and weary and He of all people, knows how rough life's journey can be. In fact it draws Him closer to you because it stirs up His Compassion. He Loves you so much that He just wants to help you. Find Rest and Peace in His everlasting arms.... today. ~Pastor Lynn

My Grandpa was a preacher of the Gospel...he was also a finish Carpenter. As some of you can just imagine, my grandpa had plenty of co-workers try to give him extra grief and 'ribbing' because he was a 'preacher man'...

My Grandpa could certainly hold his own but seemed to always have that dynamic to deal with when he worked on a job with unbelievers. And as many stories as there are about the naysayers.... there are at least that many and more about the moments of witnessing that my Grandpa got to be a part of as to the saving grace of his Lord Jesus Christ.

There is one story though that stands out... about a certain company that he worked for and how there was a particular supervisor that seemed especially offended at my Grandpa's faith. On this particular day this supervisor was riding my Grandpa like a rented mule. As my Grandpa was going on peaceably and diligently about his work...in spite of the 'fiery darts of the devil' that was coming his way...suddenly...my grandpa heard a clear almost audible voice say....'why don't you just pick up your hammer and hit this guy in the head'..

.my grandpa stopped...and when he realized that the voice was not a Godly voice...he simply walked away and said...'NO...that won't do'.

No...that won't do! Isn't that exactly what God encourages us to say to the enemy? In times of trial, doubt and temptation...doesn't God's word simply tell us to take the stance that...'No...that won't do!

'Reckon yourselves free from Sin'

'Get behind me Satan'

'Am I to sin so that grace may abound?

Perish the thought!

'No...that won't do!'

I am a child of the King! I am joint heir to the throne of God! By the spirit of adoption I can cry out Abba Father!

I reckon that I am free from sin...and if the Son sets me free...I shall be free indeed!

My Grandpa of course, did NOT  pick up his hammer and did NOT  hit that guy in the head...tempted as he might have been...he chose God's strength, power and righteousness and in a child like fashion....walked away and stated that 'No....THAT WON'T do!'...

he then went to work elsewhere for a few years and then returned.

But something was different....that same supervisor was humble and somewhat...simple.

Turns out that during my Grandpa's absence, the enemy was able to speak to another and convince him to indeed 'pick up his hammer and just hit that guy in the head'

No telling how many lives were destroyed...there was certainly an arrest, surgery, much grief for family members on both sides...a trial, prison, rehabilitation for the victim...financial hardship for all involved.

This is what the enemy meant for my Grandpa in one little moment of chaos and frustration. But because of my Grandpa's life of commitment to seeking the Lord...because the principles of God's truth over ruled...because of a child like faith and a simple moment of choosing...

'NO...That won't do'

Lord help me to always make this same decision when sin comes calling!

JUST FOR TODAY: Take time to spend quiet time with the Lord. Spending time with Jesus will increase your Trust and will also give you a much better idea of what is really important in your life. If you will saturate your mind with the Love letters from God (Scripture), He will show you exactly how to live your life. His Word is a lamp unto your feet and His Presence will light your path. ~Pastor Lynn

FROM THE PASTOR'S PORCH: Embrace being OLD FASHIONED!

Isn't it strange some of the things that make you realize that you are "old fashioned"?? Take paper towels for instance. I never realized until this morning how much I dislike them. I was in the church kitchen this morning and I was washing my hands. When I got through, I started looking for a towel to dry my hands on; a real cloth towel, but no, all I could find was a roll of paper towels on the dispenser right above the sink. I don't like paper towels,......... and I don't like disposable diapers either. Especially when people dispose of them on my own personal beach out at Lake Chickasha or they toss them out on the road side or in the parking lot. Come to think of it, I don't like most things that are disposable. I don't like NEW country music either. Sounds like old 80's rock with a fiddle and a steel in the band. It ain't New and it sure ain't COUNTRY!! None of these boys could hold down a job in Merle Haggard's band. And while I'm on a roll, how about automated customer service answering machings. Now I'm really mad. The only thing worse than automated customer service is gettin' hold of a real human but they can't speak English!! Ok, I'll shut up. I know...... I'm just "old fashioned" and I'm gonna have to embrace it. I'm thinking right now about an ice cold Virgina Dare Strawberry sodie pop in a real glass bottle!!

We all have to tolerate "new" ideas, systems, and ways of doin' some things. But we must always remember that "new" doesn't necessarily mean "better". I'm playin' a 44 year old acoustic guitar that I wouldn't trade for any brand new guitar of any brand. As a Pastor, I own and sometimes study out of some of the "new" translations of the Bible, but I wouldn't trade the whole stack of them for my trusty old 1611 King James!! I know what you're thinkin' now, "oh, now he's gonna say he likes that old time Religion". Well, I ain't gonna say that. I'm not much interested in old or new "Religion". Truth is much more important than old or new. What I'm interested in is a "True" Relationship with Jesus Christ; the kind that Peter talks about in Acts chapter 2. It's not new or old it just has always been and it will never change. God wants to have a Loving relationship with you and Jesus is the only way you're gonna have it. Verse 38 says, "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. That kind of simple, truthful preachin' got 3000 people saved that day.

My prayer for all of us today is that we have what the Bible says in verse 42; that we will continue stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine (teaching) and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. If there ever was an "untoward generation"(verse 40), it is us. Embrace being a little "old fashioned" and "Save yourself" from it. ~Pastor Lynn

JUST FOR TODAY: Trust Jesus and don't lean on your own understanding. You think if you can figure out how to solve your own problems that you will be the Master of your own life. That will only lead to frustration because the world will just give you another whole set of problems and you will never find Peace. Instead of trying to be the Master of our lives, maybe we should just turn to the Master. ~Pastor Lynn

Ain't it amazin how God gets His crayons out and draws us a picture! If you're like me...it takes a little extra explainin and yet God says Yes! Yes, I'll meet you right where you are. Funny how I've spent so much time thinkin that because I had failed here and failed there...been pretty sure for a long time that I had given Him enough reason to throw up His hands and be done with me...yet everytime I turn around He is reminding me that He has already run out to me to welcome me back home...He's put His robe of righteousness on me, killed the fattest calf in my honor and rejoiced that 'once I was dead and now am alive'...and He keeps remindin me things like... 'meditate on My words daily so that all your ways will prosper'...'You know not the thoughts I think toward you...thoughts of peace and not of evil...to bring you to an expected end' Jer. 29:11  'Fear Not! You have been redeemed! I have called you by name! You are mine!' Isaiah 43...  He tells us in Romans to 'reckon yourselves free from sin' and...'if the Son sets you free, you shall be free indeed'... In Proverbs He tells us that 'those who put their trust in Him, He will deliver them out of their trouble'...Thank you Lord that you have gone to great lengths to reveal a Father's heart towards me...Thank you for your perfect correction...thank you for your love and mercy...thank you for taking what 'the enemy meant for evil and making it for good' thank you for 'taking the years that the locusts have eaten and making them new'...and so much more... Thank you Lord !

JUST FOR TODAY: What's your mindset? Do you take God for granted or are you thankful for Him and his many blessings towards you. When you are thankful to the Lord, that is like building your house on a Solid Rock where the storms of Life cannot shake you. JUST FOR TODAY: It's time to start slowin' down a little and get ready for the weekend. There are times we need to rest by the wayside and remember God is not in a hurry. When we rush through life we sometimes forget who we are and who we belong to. Don't let your life dry up like some of our ponds. Be still and let God fill your Spiritual pool with the "Living Water" of his son, Jesus Christ. ~Pastor Lynn

JUST FOR TODAY: Seek not your own will, but the will of the Father. This is what Jesus did and we must follow his example. Just for today, don't make any plans. Especially about spiritual matters. Pray about it and then don't do anything that doesn't have something to do with Loving God, Loving other folks, or telling somebody about Jesus. Don't worry about hitting any specific target because we are too short sighted to see what God is aiming at. ~Pastor Lynn

JUST FOR TODAY: Sacrifice; to offer something precious to God. He sacrificed His own son for you. What will you offer Him? The #1 sacrifice you can offer to God is your precious time. Not slow down, but STOP and give him ALL of your attention for just a little while. I promise you that time spent on your relationship with God will result in many blessings. Try it today and see for yourself. ~Pastor Lynn

Wanted to share a thought or two about "Compromise," after reading Pastor Mike & Sandy's thoughts from Junly 29.:
Compromise

We all see things in a different way.
What’s right or wrong, well, who’s to say?
What’s right for me may not fit you.
There’s really nothing else to do,
But compromise.
I don’t approve of Washington
wasting cash, so what I’ve done
is use a taxing trick or two
to pay far less that what is due.
That’s compromise.
If you don’t like your pay amount
just pad the old expense account.
No one bats an eye because
it’s something everybody does.
They compromise
The Bible says, “Don’t be conformed,
renew your mind and be transformed”.
But, Romans twelve seems out of date,
we’re better off if we relate,
By compromise.
Some churches fill up all their pews
with folks who share the same world views.
Their preacher also understands
they’re just suggestions, not commands.
They’ve compromised
And when they see God, face to face,
they’ll just appeal to Holy Grace.
They’ll ask him to ignore their lies
and plead with him through tearful eyes
To compromise.
But, from His Holy Throne He’ll look
and say, “The Way is in the Book,
the key to Heaven is the Christ,
you should have made the sacrifice,
Not compromise.

FROM THE PASTOR'S PORCH: No Fear!!

One of the major tools
that the Devil uses on mankind is Fear. Old Satan really likes Fear because He
knows that Fear can paralyze a person and it can also damage our relationship
with God. When fear is controlling our life, we just can't function properly. We
lock up. We won't do the things God has called us to do because we are afraid
things won't work out right; we're afraid of failure; we're afraid we will look
silly to other people. Fear causes major problems in our mind; we start looking
at our circumstances from a human standpoint instead of a Godly
standpoint.

Fear also causes a tremendous loss of Power. We lose control of our circumstances because fear makes us think God can't do anything about our problems. Fear can cause us to forget who we are in the Lord. If we let fear damage our Faith then we have damaged our relationship with God because we can't please Him without Faith.
This is the most dangerous aspect of fear because our Love relationship with God
is the most important thing in our life, and the one and only thing that can
conquer fear is the perfect Love of God.

So it all boils down to the fact that Fear, like any other problem that plagues mankind, is conquered by “Walking in the Spirit”. We must stay “out of the flesh” and let the transforming Presence of God search out and destroy all of our fears; those that have surfaced in our lives and also the ones hidden deep in our soul. We must
always remember what Paul wrote to Timothy about fear. “God did not give us a
Spirit of Fear, but of Power, Love, and a sound mind.” One of the first signs
that we're not Walking in the Spirit is if we are plagued with fear; God is
NEVER the author of fear in your life. If you feel powerless about your
situation in life, if you feel all alone and unloved, and if you feel confused
and can't think straight, there is only one solution to these problems and His
name is Jesus.

My prayer for you today is that you will let Jesus take control of your life today and let him take all fears out of your life. I pray that the spirit of fear in your life
will be replaced by His Power, His Love, and that you will receive the sound
mind that He has promised you in His Word. I hope and pray that you come to know
what an amazing life is in store for you if you will allow the Spirit of God to
transform your life today. May God richly bless you, ~Pastor Lynn

JUST FOR TODAY: God did NOT give you the spirit of Fear. If you are afraid today you need to start walking in HIS Spirit and let His perfect Love remove every trace of Fear in your life. He will replace your Fear with His
