JUST FOR TODAY: If
your destination is Heaven, then the roughness or smoothness of the road becomes much less significant. When the road gets rocky and unplanned detours make you want to hang your head, you CAN keep your head held high. Just stay focused on Jesus and the HOPE of your glorious destination, Heaven!! This world is NOT your home!! His Presence and Your Hope will get you There. ~Pastor Lynn

JUST FOR TODAY: Stay focused on Jesus ALL the time. Yes, our quiet times alone with the Lord are wonderful and refreshing, but we serve a God that wants our attention even in the busy times, too. How can He be your Leader and guide you when you are the one making all the plans? All that planning just ties you up in knots and can go out the door with one phone call. Give it to God!! ~Pastor Lynn

JUST FOR TODAY: I will look for God in all things and in all places. His word tells me to "seek Him with my whole being". That means He is always with me in all of my circumstances. I serve a God who can take even the deepest sorrow and weave it into a pattern for something good. I will seek Him, and I will succeed in finding Him because that is what He promised. Thank you Lord. ~Pastor Lynn

JUST FOR TODAY: I will NOT crawl around in darkness!! Jesus told me in His word that He was "the Light of the World", so since He lives in me, I will walk boldly in His brightness. I will brighten up this old world by reflecting the light of His presence in my life. I can't be the world's best friend, but Jesus surely is and we should all be diamonds today through Him!! GIVE HIM PRAISE!! ~Pastor Lynn

Cowboys in the Kingdom

Lord, it sure is an honor
to be one of the chosen few....
who live their life on horse back
out tendin' stock for you
to breath fresh air and watch the sun
as it rises and sets.......
and the view from the back of a well broke horse
well, that's 'bout as good as it gets

to watch with awe the splendor
the mircle of birth
the joy of knowin' we're not measured
by our monetary worth.....
To feel the trust that you've put in us
as stewards of it all
and that you're right here beside us
to catch us if we fall

Yes sir, it sure is a priviledge
to ride for the triple cross
to work and keep the tally straight
out lookin' for the lost........
to point'em to that narrow gate
and help'em up your trail
so they can get to know you
and your love that never fails....

Yes sir we're cowboys in the kingdom
just like you told us in your word
so until the day that you return
We'll keep on ridin' herd

JUST FOR TODAY: You can have only one Master. If you let Flesh and Blood, yours or other folks, be the driving force
in your life, you are only wasting your life. Spend your time and energy serving the one and only true God for He is your only real Master. He will never waste your time and energy driving you to be something you're not. Only God knows who you really are and what you really need, and what you can truly accomplish through and with Him. ~Pastor Lynn

JUST FOR TODAY: If you are tired, why don't you rest? You eat when you get hungry don't you? You come in out of the rain when it rains don't you?(I hope you do, and I hope it does) Well.... Rest when you get tired and weary. Resting may appear to be idleness or even laziness to the Flesh and Blood folks, but to God it is a sign of Trust. God Loves it when you lean on Him for support. God tells us in Isiah 30:15 to return to Him and Rest in Him and you will be Saved; in quietness and Trust you will find your Strength. ~Pastor Lynn

FROM THE PASTOR'S PORCH: Are you being a good Steward?

The Bible tells us that all good things come from above, and it is so true that God has blessed us with so many good things. I am so thankful for the blessings that God has bestowed on me, my family, my church, my friends, and my country. As I ponder all of these blessings, I can't help but think about what the Bible also says about being a good steward of all these blessings.

Now most of the time, anytime someone mentions being a good steward, the first thing we think of is money. Well, we do need to be a good steward of our finances, but there is a whole lot more to being a good steward than just keepin' a close eye on your money. There are many other physical blessings besides money. How about all the possesions you have that you have aquired with your money. We have become such a throw away society, sometimes we don't take very good care of our "stuff". If we were a little better stewards of our blessed belongings, we might not have to spend so much of our precious money replacing "stuff" that might still work if we had taken care of it. This not only applies to our "stuff" but to our own bodies as well.

We also need to be good stewards of some things that are not "physical" blessings. How about your EMOTIONS. Are you a good steward of your feelings. Do you share your good feelings with those around you; things like giving people a smile and an encouraging word, instead of a frown or some other look of disapproval. Do you spend more time being Angry than you do being Happy? Do you always let circumstances control your emotions or are you a good steward and let your emotions control the circumstances?? Just think of the people that you really enjoy being around; I'll bet your thinkin' of someone that always has a smile on their face.

Then there is the most important blessing of your life that you need to be a good steward of and it's certainly not money. How about your SPIRITUAL blessings. Jesus died on the cross not for Himself, but for you! Do you appreciate what He did for you and are you a good steward of it? Do you read your Bible? Do you Pray? Do you Worship Him? Do you Love Him? Do you Love your neighbor and your enemies? Do you tell everybody about Him and what He has done for you?

All of us have three parts to our lives; SPIRITUAL, EMOTIONAL, and PHYSICAL, and God has richly blessed us in each and every one of those areas. My prayer today for all of us is that we will quit taking our many blessings for granted, and start being a good steward of ALL of our blessings. Just think of what it would be like if you woke up tomorrow with only what you were a good steward of and thankful for today!! May God richly bless you. ~Pastor Lynn

MY TWO CENTS WORTH: Pray BEFORE you pull that trigger,
but PULL IT! If ya don't hit what you're aimin' at, re-load (Pray some more),
Let God adjust your sights a little and keep on shootin'! God is the one callin'
the shots, so don't be too concerned with what the flesh and blood folks have to
say about it. Don't you think it's about time to live life to the fullest and
the way God intended you to live? ~Pastor Lynn

JUST FOR TODAY: I am not afraid to be different from other people. God has a plan and a path that is completely unique just for me and I must follow it. I am much more concerned with pleasing God than I am other people, yet if I do follow His plan, I know that others will be blessed by it. I do not feel guilty for the time that I spend in Your Presence, and I give you Praise for being such a brilliant light in my times of darkness. ~Pastor Lynn

JUST FOR TODAY: Raise up your shield of Faith. Make your feelin's line up with your Faith. We all have feelings; some good, some not so good. Bad feelings aren't necessarily sinful, but they can sure nuff tempt you to sin. There is not a firery dart of depression or bad feelin's that your shield of Faith cannot quench. Trusting Jesus will cause all bad feelin's to lose their hold on your life. ~Pastor Lynn

JUST FOR TODAY: I am not alone. I pray that the Lord Jesus will open my Spiritual eyes that I can see Him everywhere and in all situations. I am tied to Him with invisible cables of Love that nothing can ever sever apart. This is more real to me than any physical thing that I can see, feel, or touch. This is the Substance of things not seen and the evidence of all that I Hope for. ~Pastor Lynn

JUST FOR TODAY: Spend time with the Lord and make Him your #1 priority and your deepest Joy.  Satan wants you to be too busy to spend any quality time with God, but God did not call you to be busy. He called you to have a personal, Loving Relationship with Him.  Choose what's really best for you and no one can every take it from you.  Spending time alone with God will not only allow Him to bless you, but He will also be able to bless others through you.  ~Pastor Lynn

JUST FOR TODAY: I will not wallow in selfpity. Today I will look up instead of down. I will not count all of my problems but instead I will count all of my blessings. I will not worry because I'm not as young as I used to be, but I will be thankful for all the wonderful years God has given me already. I will lift my voice and my hands in Praise to the God who never has and never will foresake me. Today I will put my Trust in the Lover of my soul and the Rock of my Salvation. ~Pastor Lynn

JUST FOR TODAY: Give yourself a big old "Thrust of Trust". Jesus said to not worry about tomorrow, that was not a suggestion; it was a commandment. If you are worryin' about tomorrow and your mind is cluttered with all sorts of concerns, there is only one thing that will clear your head. Take a deep breath and push yourself into complete Trust of Jesus Christ! He's bigger than ALL of our problems. ~Pastor Lynn

JUST FOR TODAY: Yogi Berra once said,
"when you come to a fork in the road, take it." I think Yogi was tryin' to tell
us not to let a fork in the road stop us, but to make a choice, right or wrong,
and get on down the road. I appreciate Yogi's willingness to "pull the trigger"
but God wants us to be a little more selective and careful of which road we
take. We need to make sure we take the fork that leads us down the Godly path of
His choosing for our life. ~Pastor Lynn

Cowboy Church @ The Hippodrome, Wednesday, 7-13-11

Act 1:9 After saying this, he was taken up to heaven as they watched him, and a cloud hid him from their sight.
Act 1:10 They still had their eyes fixed on the sky as he went away, when two men dressed in white suddenly stood beside them
Act 1:11 and said, "Galileans, why are you standing there looking up at the sky? This Jesus, who was taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way that you saw him go to heaven."
Act 1:12 Then the apostles went back to Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives, which is about half a mile away from the city.
Act 1:13 They entered the city and went up to the room where they were staying: Peter, John, James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James son of Alphaeus, Simon the Patriot, and Judas son of James.
Act 1:14 They gathered frequently to pray as a group, together with the women and with Mary the mother of Jesus and with his brothers.
Act 1:15 A few days later there was a meeting of the believers, about a hundred and twenty in all, and Peter stood up to speak.

We have been studying the early church as we plant a new Cowboy Church.  We want to get back to roots of the church and move away from what has become an institutional church.  Recently, a friend of mine was describing the personality stages of the early church as "Acts 1:8 Church"; "Acts 4 Church"; "Acts 16 Church"; etc.  When he described the Acts 2 church he said they did not have an example to go by, they did simple church, and did not know what they were doing or where they were going.   I said, "That's us!  We're and Acts 2 Church!"

Last week we studied the declaration of Acts 1:8 and what it means.  This week we want to look at the preparation that went into birthing of the church on the day of Pentecost and what that preparation means to us.  We all seem to want that "Pentecostal Power" but do we take time to make proper preparations for it?

Several things amazed me as the disciples waited in that upper room.  If you study the make up of the apostles and the 120 disciples you find a lot of diversity - economic, social, political, men/women, cutural, national origin...  I could go on and on.  Yet they were in one accord.  They had unity of spirit.

Thirdly, they pray together for the Holy Spirit to come.  They fully understood the declaration of Acts 1:8 and knew they could do nothing.  The Holy Spirit could do it all.

So, they prayed.  Together.  They prayed together in a spirit of unity for the Pentecostal Power to come.  And come it did!  They all preached.  Then Peter preached and 3,000 souls were saved.

This is a strong message for the church today.  We all need to study the early church to see what they did right!
