JUST FOR TODAY: Take courage my friends. It is true that this life is full of strife and trouble at times, BUT it is also true that for believers, there is an eternity of stress free life just around the corner, waiting for you in Heaven!! So stop worrying. Worry changes nothing and it will block your awareness of God's Presence in your life. Worry is one of Satan's greatest tools to cause you to believe his lies. Remember; Spiritual battles are won and lost in your mind. ~Pastor Lynn

JUST FOR TODAY: God requires three things of His people. First, you must "do Just"; that means do the right thing. Not what you "think" is right, but what God says is right (refer to manual). Second, you must "Love Mercy"; that means you should be forgiving and Love doing it!! Be on the lookout for someone to forgive and do it with a smile on your face (hard one). Last but not least, you must "walk humbly with your God"; to "walk" means to live, so live your life without arrogance and stay close to God. Drop the attitude and remember that you can do nothing without Him!! Obey these "requirements" and you will recieve Spiritual Discernment along with seeing very clearly the will of God for your life!! ~Pastor Lynn (See manual...Micah 6:8) Any questions??

JUST FOR TODAY: Think about the amazing Truth of God's Love. He Loves you unconditionally; no matter what you have done or will do. His Love for you will never end; God never stops Loving you...... His Love is Eternal. His Love is not for sale or barter; You can't buy it or earn it. His Love is not imposing; God will never force His Love on you... You must accept it and receive it freely if you want it. Why would anyone not want to be Loved by God?? ~Pastor Lynn

FROM THE PASTOR'S PORCH: Plain and Simple

I don't know about you, but I sometimes grow quite weary of life bein' so cotton pickin' complicated.  We have just about “thought” our way into total chaos in this life.  Don't you long for the days when life was plain and simple?  You know what I'm talkin' about; back when men said what they meant and they meant what they said.  A simple hand shake and a man's word meant something and you didn't have to have a stack of paper work, a signed contract, and a computer to get something done.  Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 11:3 that he feared that our minds might get corrupted from “the simplicity that is in Christ”, and that is a lot of the problem in our society today.  We have complicated our life by wandering away from the simplicity God intended us to have in our life.

God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.  He doesn't change and He still means what He says.  Doesn't that sound simple enough??  It really is.  We complicate our life when we think we have found a better way or an excuse for not doing what God says to do.  We argue with God.  Now the Devil wants you to believe the solution to this problem is very complicated or not even solvable at all!!  This of course is a lie from hell and the answer if just plain and simple.  Obey God.  I can just hear some of you now; “Oh, there's more to it than that. That's just TOO simple” or “that may be simple but it
sure is hard!!”.

The plain and simple Truth to an uncomplicated life without all the confusion is to bring all of your “arguments” and “every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:5).  “simplicity is the secret to seeing things clearly.  A Christian does not think clearly until a long time passes, but a Christian ought to see clearly without any difficulty.    You can't think through spiritual confusion to make things clear; to make things clear, you must obey”- Oswald Chambers.  If your life is full of Spiritual confusion then your emotional life and your physical life will be also.  So please don't be tryin' to think up a better way to live your life than what
God has already put before you...plain and Simple.  Maybe it's time for you to take a good hard look at your complicated life and see where the areas are in your life where there is disobedience.  I want to encourage you today to refresh your relationship with the Lord Jesus and remember that He said, “If you Love me, you will
obey my commandments”.

My prayer for all of us today is that we will “take into captivity” all of our foolish ideas and arguments and give them over to “obedience to Christ”.  Lord, please help us to see clearly and be obedient to your will for our lives.    Let us once again enjoy the beautiful simplicity of being your child.  Plain and
Simple......don't you feel better already??  ~Pastor Lynn

JUST FOR TODAY: God created man and breathed His very life into him. We need God every minute of every hour of every day. We can do nothing without Him. We know that we need Him, but does God need us?? Remember He chose to show Himself to the world through His born again Believers. We need His blessings and He needs our efforts. Just heard Tommy Emmanuel play "You Needed Me". What a beautiful song.... and what a beautiful thought. ~Pastor Lynn

JUST FOR TODAY: Do you ever feel distant from the Lord Jesus?? I think that we all do at times, but we must recognize that is all that it is; just a feeling and it is not reality. The Bible is full of God's promises that He will always be with those who believe in Him. The very last thing that Jesus said to His followers was, "Surely I am with you always, even unto the end of the earth." Let this promise fill you with Joy and Peace. You may lose a lot of things in this life, but you will never lose your relationship with Jesus!! ~Pastor Lynn

JUST FOR TODAY: Do you ever feel like you don't have the strength to match the task that life has put in front of you?? You have two choices; either give up or turn it over to God. Giving up is not the alternative that God has in store for you. Instead of giving up, just give it to the Lord. He will never forsake you and He will not only give you Peace but also Power! God will give you everything you need for this day if you will just Trust His empowering Presence!! ~Pastor Lynn

We need to be reminded that all of us goes through dry times, the "desert experiences", when God does not seem to be there.  It seems like almost everything goes wrong and that the easiest thing to do is give up and toss in the towel.  The duration of these experiences vary, sometimes short and sometimes never to end.  But end they will as we work harder to try and draw closer to God.  When this happens to you, just understand that you are not the only one having this experience, but it is common to all who are trying to grow spiritually.  And you will find after these hard times have passed and you look back on them that they were in reality a growth period when you pushed roots deeper into the faith.

Now that you have answered the call from God, you are ready to offer yourself to Him in a more comprehensive way on this ICCAN Trail or journey that you have begun.  Every part of your life should be examined to see if you are indeed "being what you are".  Humility and daily conversation needs to replace those exterior "masks" that so easily find their way between our true selves and the Lord.  This is not an easy life; it is one of hard work.  Just remember that it may have taken a lifetime to form those masks and that it will require a great effort to replace them and to find that true self to be offered to God.

Very emotional 9/11 service today.  Crises will always bring out the true character of a person, a church, and a nation.  The people of the USA proved a decade ago that this is STILL a Godly nation.  Satan wants you to believe that it is not, but that is a lie from Hell!  There are are many, many Godly people in this nation that Love God and believe in His principles.  We still Worship, fellowship, descipleship, minister, evangelize, and Love this great nation we call the United States of America!!  Please.... Pray for YOUR country.  ~Pastor Lynn

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

JUST FOR TODAY: Depend on God in EVERY circumstance; good or bad. This is His deepest desire for your relationship with Him, and He will move Heaven and Earth for you if you will just learn this lesson. He will never over rule your free will and He will never overwhelm you with His Power because He Loves you. Use your freedom with wisdom. If you want to enjoy God's constant Presence and Peace, you must constantly depend on God. ~Pastor Lynn

Without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

JUST FOR TODAY: Let God show himself to the
world through YOU. It is amazing to me that God, who can do anything that he wants to, chooses to live in this world through his people. Jesus said, "I am the light of the world". That means YOU, born again Christian, are responsable for allowing that light to shine. With the "light of life" living in you, YOU can make a difference in this world and push back the darkness. ~Pastor Lynn

JUST FOR TODAY: God told his people many years ago, "BE STILL AND KNOW THAT I AM GOD". The times have really changed since then with instant communication and all forms of rapid transit, but the commandment still remains the same. Just like the dew refreshes the grass and the flowers in the stillness of the night, so does the Living Waters of the Holy Spirit refresh us when we take the time to be still and know that He is God. ~Pastor Lynn

Part II. Why Did It Happen?
We see in verses 11 and 12 that the lame man was healed and all the people came to together to see
what was going on. This is when Peter’s quick thinking took over. Peter saw a crowd coming together
amazed at the miracle he knew The Holy Spirit had just performed. Thinking like a good evangelist he
figured this would be a real good time to preach Jesus!

As a traveling evangelist for over 6 years I have often joked tha I didn’t know if I was a preacher or a
carny! I preached in fields, schools, parks, and street corners. We used everything from dunk tanks and
blow-ups to strongmen and clowns to draw a crowd – just so we could preach Jesus. So that His name
could be lifted up. If God chooses to use an instant healing to draw a crowd I think that is wonderful.

The whole point of this is that we get so caught up in the event – miracle, music, or message – that we
forget why we are having it! We walk into a hospital room to pray for someone’s healing and we pray
for power, we pray for the needs of the family, and we pray for healing for the recipient. All of these are
good. But, we never once ask God if HE wants to use this event to glorify HIMSELF and HIS SON JESUS.
You see, If He does then the healing will be a snap! The Holy spirit will already be at work before we
ever get there!

Part III. Can It Happen Today?
First of all, we need to understand some things. We serve the same God Peter and John did. We have
access to the same Holy Spirit they did. And we have the same Gifts available to us that they did. And,
my God is still in the healing business. How about yours? We just need to learn to ask the right
questions.

No, I’m not teaching a “name it and claim it gospel” like some of the TV preachers. You know the ones
that say if you pray in a certain way God has to answer your prayer. I don’t believe in “formula prayers”.
No matter what we are praying for or about, we need to first ask, “Father, will this glorify You and Your
Son, Jesus and grow your Kingdom?”

Jesus spent a lot of time on this earth in prayer seeking the answer to that prayer. Then He just showed
up where God was already working and miracles took place.

In Closing
I would like to end with four statements from Lloyd J. Ogilvie’s book on Acts that I believe will help us to
ask the right questions:

1. Faith is not a humanly initiated capacity. It is utterly futile and guilt producing to tell ourselves or
anyone else that we need faith or more faith. We can’t produce it! Faith is a response to Christ’s love
revealed on the cross and in the resurrection. Faith comes by hearing the sublime truth.

2. The Holy Spirit who gave us the gift of faith to believe the Gospel also gives us a gift of applied faith
for the specific needs and challenges of life.

3. The Spirit of the resurrected Lord is the healing power of the world. There is no healing that takes
place apart from Him even though often He is neither acknowledged or thanked by the majority of
people today.

4. The advanced gift of faith gives us the courage to pray in the name of Jesus. That clarifies what is in
keeping with all we know of what He said, did, and does. Unless a prayer request glorifies Him, His
name cannot be used nor His power released. But once the rightness is established, we are given the
release of His Spirit to ask for and expect what through the facility of imagination He has pictured for us
as the focus of our prayers of intercession and supplication.

My prayer for you is that you will comprehend the power that is available to us as believers if we just
put our faith to work in glorifying God!
