JUST FOR TODAY: Paul wrote to Timothy and told him, "I am being poured out like a drink offering....".  What he was telling timothy was that he had completely poured out his life to mininster, care, and pray for others.  I used to think what a great man Paul was, but I have come to realize that Paul's greatness was not because of the man he was but because of the God to whom he had surrendered.  I... don't know about you, but I have been guiltly of saying, "I am not as "good" a Christian as Paul, therefore, I cannot do great things for God like he did."  What a cop out!!!  Being an awesome servant of God has not one thing to do with your abilities or your "goodness";  It all boils down to are we ready and willing to surrender our lives completely to God and then see HIS Greatness and Power work through us.  Isn't the same Powerful Holy Spirit in you and I that was in Paul??   ~Pastor Lynn

JUST FOR TODAY: "Your actions are an outward manifestation of an inward activity." ~Dave Howell. What's goin' on inside you today that will be shown to the outside world through your actions?? Do you really Love God this morning? Will you open your eyes this morning and open your mouth to say "Thank you, Lord!!"? Will you get up this morning and go Worship God at the church of your choice? G...od is worthy of your Praise and your Love. We all need to show others our Love for God through Worship and prove to Him and ourselves how much we Love Him for His Mercy, His Grace, and His many Blessings. Let us not foresake the gathering of ourselves together to Praise and Worship His Holy Name!!~Pastor Lynn

From the Horse’s Mouth

It’s a common saying we here, "I got it from the horse's mouth". Too often we hear it when someone is validating the gossip they are spreading. But, usually this person’s facts are based on one side of a two sided story that is most likely none of their business.

From the Horse’s Mouth of not, the problem with gossip is that it leads to division and to judging people.

In Romans 1:29-30 God’s word categorizes gossips along with “Haters of God”, “Inventors of evil”, “foolish, faithless, heartless, and ruthless”.

Luke 6:37 tells us “Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.

Again we return to Ephesians 4:29 “Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.”

Corrupt words can be profanities, curses, and/or gossip. Let us learn to forgive one another and speak words that uplift and impart grace to one another. Let’s not give ear to gossips and most surely don’t give your tongue to gossip.

Be blessed and be a blessing to others.

JUST FOR TODAY: There is an old cowboy by the name of John who works at Hick's Western Wear in Chickasha, Oklahoma. I don't know John very well, but I do know that he took the time to custom shape a cheap black cowboy hat for my four year old grandson's birthday; even put a "Quarter Horse kick" in the crown for him. Then he also took the time to show him the proper way for a real cowboy to take his hat off and on. I really appreciate what old Cowboy John did for my grandson. What I appreciate even more is a God who can put such a kind spirit in a man when the world tries as hard as it can to make a man hard as nails. Thanks John and thank you Lord for letting your Love shine through a human soul. We can always use a little more of that in our lives. ~Pastor Lynn

JUST FOR TODAY: Love God, Love each other, and Tell everyone you know about Jesus!! Pretty simple ain't it? Oh, you can complicate it and make it a lot harder if you want to, but who wants to be a Pharisee? Jesus said if we Love Him, we will Keep (obey) His commandments. There is great reward to those who do not forget what Jesus says to do, and then does them..... not out of fear, but with the heart and full of Love. Proverbs 3:2 tells us the reward for this is the addition of longer days, and a longer life, and Peace. Why would anyone not want to sign up for that??? What about Loving each other and telling others about Jesus?? They will never come to pass if we do not get a firm grip on Loving God first. ~Pastor Lynn

JUST FOR TONIGHT: The number one thing we need to concentrate on is keeping our lives open to God. This means we must "behold" or look to God concerning every situation and circumstance in our life. If you are so busy that you can't look to God, you better throw the brakes on and slow down NOW!! Push everything else aside if you have to. It really is that important. We must absolutely maintain a position of beholding Him. Every thing else can come and go, and people can critize you if they want to, but don't you dare let anybody or anything block your view of God. There is no other way to stay out of the flesh and live the Spiritual life God intended for you to have except by staying focused and constantly looking to Him. All who are looking to the Glory of God are being transformed into the same image. You CAN be a better person tomorrow than you were today!!! It is not about what you do, but who you look to. (See 2nd Corinthians 3:18) ~Pastor Lynn

JUST FOR TODAY: God said, "I remember....the kindness of your youth." Remember back in your younger days when you were so quick to be kind to God and it wasn't always about expecting God to be kind to YOU?? Does everything in you life now fill God's heart with gladness, or does He just constantly hear you complain because things aren't goin' YOUR way? People who have forgotten what God remembers will not have a lot of Joy in their life..... How much kindness have you shown to God this week?? Just Askin'..... ~Pastor Lynn
Father, please forgive us for our lack of kindness to you. May the shame and humiliation of our lack of kindness lead us to repentance. Thank you for your Forgiveness, your Mercy, and Your Grace; in the name of Jesus we pray, amen.

FROM THE PASTOR'S PORCH: BORN AGAIN-How refreshing!! Well, I woke up this morning not feeling all that refreshed. Casey and I have been very busy this week making all the last minute preparations to leave on our mission trip to Guatemala. I realized this morning when I felt a little dry and didn't feel like writing anything this morning it was because I was frantically searching my mind for ...something to do!! When we start thinking, “ I've got to do this or that or it will never get done.”, that is a sure sign of staleness in our life. Freshness in our lives does not come from obedience or doing good works, it comes from the Holy Spirit. All I had to do this morning to get refreshed was slow down my mind, pray a little while, read a few scriptures in my Bible, and remember that I am Born Again!! These are the things that invite the Holy Spirit to come rushing into our lives and refresh us with His awesome Power!! Being “Born Again” gives us a freshness in our thinking, our talking, and our actions and the supply is unending!! Sometimes we underestimate what being “Born Again” really means. There is much more to it than we usually think. “Being born again by the Holy Spirit is an unmistakable work of God, as mysterious as the wind, and as surprising as God Himself. It gives us new vision and keeps us absolutely fresh for everything through the never-ending supply of the life of God.”-Oswald Chambers. John 3:3 tells us “....unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God”. I pray that you are seeing the Kingdom of God today through eyes and mind that have been refreshed by the Holy Spirit. Have a wonderful, refreshing day and I'll see ya when we get back from Guatemala!! ~Pastor Lynn

"'in cavda venenvon,' --in the tail [is the] poison.  The lesson being:  watch out for what do don't see."

I can well remember the incident.  We were camping back in the Big Thicket of East Texas.  It was in the late 1970s and we were taking a midnight stroll around the lake.  No, it was not to swoon or spoon, as we were with several other couples on a retreat.  I didn't carry a light, my night vision was good back then, but the couple walking behind us had a lantern.  Suddenly and sharply the man told Annie not to take a step.  He brought the light close and we saw a copperhead slithering off into the grass.  One more step and Annie would have put her foot on it.  One more step and it could have meant severe injury, even possible death.  A voice cried out and was heeded.
Let me remind you of the story I wrote about last year of the time I was out in the woods.  The small stream was before me and I started sloshing through the water to the other side.  One step, two, and then the next step I went down in quicksand.  This time, however, there was no voice, no warning, nothing to indicate danger and I was alone.
How many limbs have been lost in Iraq and Afghanistan due to a step?  Not being aware, taking a step, and the foot lands upon a mine; the leg is lost, possibly life.  Was it that well hidden?  Or was it because of a lack of awareness and/or not practicing one's training?  In the jungles of Vietnam, trip wires were used, hard to see.  There were also pits of punji sticks.  A person had to be alert and be wary of where they stepped.  It is of some importance to note; these were placed along the trails that were traveled, not randomly in the midst of the jungle.
I fear we often forget that the Christian life is one of war.  Along the path that God is directing us to take Satan may have placed weapons of his "devices."  Paul says "we are not ignorant of his devices."  This could be interpreted as wiles, schemes, strategies, snares, maybe even mines, in other words, ways to take us down and out of the action whether is be a snake, quicksand, or mine.  They are to maim, to destroy either the effectiveness or life, to compromise the mission, to impede progress, and a myriad of other reasons.
The trail is placed before by the Lord.  We are given a mission and a mandate to follow the trail; yet it is imperative that we do not step haphazardly.  We are to be alert and disciplined.  We are not to be ignorant, and it is proper training that gets rid of ignorance.  Therefore, as we move cautiously along the trail through this evil world, and take each step, we must put our training to use less a calamity befall us.
                                                 D. Adkisson

"in order that Satan might not outwit us.  For we are not unaware of his schemes."
               --2 Corinthians 2:11 (NIV)

What did Jesus say to the woman at the well? (John 4:7) He told her, "Give me a Drink". We are constantly asking God to quench our thirst when we should be satisfying His!! Doesn't Jesus deserve something out of His relationship with you besides satisfying all of YOUR needs? We should be pouring out our lives to Him and not just always drawing on Him to satisfy us. Jesus said in Acts 1:8, "You shall be witnesses to me...." That means living a life that reflects His nature to all those around us while having unrestrained devotion which is satisfying to HIM!! We sure do a bunch of that recieving; maybe it's time to do a little giving in return. What do you think?? ~Pastor Lynn

JUST FOR TODAY: Return to the Lord this day with Praises and Singing!! Everlasting Joy will be poured all over you if you do. Spend time with the Lord this morning and in His Presence He will fill you with Gladness and Joy for He Loves you and is overjoyed to have you back. If you are full of Gladness and Joy, the Devil will flee and the sorrow and morning he intended for you, well, he'll just have to take that with him won't he! (Isiah 51:11). ~Pastor Lynn

JUST FOR TONIGHT: Let us give Praise to God this night. He is the Father of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour. He is the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort. It is truly amazing how He comforts us in all our troubles. Why does He do that?? 2nd Corinthians 1:3-4 says that God comforts us so that we will be able to comfort others who are in trouble with the same comfort that he gave to us. I asked the Lord, "What is this comfort?" and He answered......."Love." I think that I will call someone tonight that I know is in trouble and Love on them a little. How about you? ~PastorLynn

"For many are called, but few are chosen" (Matthew 22:14).  You are being called by God through Pastors and church members from all over inviting you to come to church this morning.  Will you ignore God this morning or will you get up out of bed and say "Speak, for your Servant hears" (1st Samuel 3:10)??  And as far as that "few are chosen" thing, how does that work?  That means very few prove th...at they are the chosen ones. The chosen ones are the ones who have come into a Relationship with God through Jesus Christ and have had their Spiritual condition changed and their EARS opened.  Are you one of the chosen ones with your ears open; are you listening??  Will you have enough Love and Respect for God to answer the call and come Worship Him this morning??  If you're lookin' for COWBOY COUNTRY CHURCH, we are located at 4092 Norge Road, Chickasha, Oklahoma.  Adult Sunday School starts at 9:30 a.m. and the Worship Service starts at 10:30 a.m.  Consider yourself called (invited) and the chosen part; well, that's between you and God.  ~Pastor Lynn

Well it's been pretty wild ministering the Word of God this week. Most of the feedback (on facebook) has been very positive; some say that God's Word blesses them, some say they are lifted up, and I have even been called "a true man of God". But on the other hand, a few have called me "Sophomoric", "mundane", "uneducated" and even "boring"!! If I look at all these comments in the flesh, I enjoy the positive comments of course and the negetive ones sting and hurt my feelings. But I must push both the good and the bad comments out of the way for there is absolutely no room in the life of a servant of the Most High God for Pride on one hand and self-pity on the other. We can call each other what ever we want; the only thing that really matters is if God calls us His child. I truly do Love all of you, ~Pastor Lynn

JUST FOR TODAY: There was a time in my life when I constantly humiliated God by ignoring Him, all the while He continured to treat me as His child. Once I began to listen to Him, to really hear his voice, all that humiliation that I had heaped on Him came back to me. My responce then became, "Lord, why was I so insensitive and stubborn??" This is always the result once we hear God's voice. Even though I feel very real delight in hearing God, I still feel the shame for taking so long to do so. Have you been down this road?? Traveling down the road of not listening to God is very bumpy and extremely dangerous. Maybe it's time to exit off that old road and get on the Super-Hiway of listening to God. Be sure and be prepared to pay the toll of obedience. ~Pastor Lynn

It seems that I have offended some folks who do not want to see or hear the Word of God on Facebook. For some reason unknown to me, my messages to folks on facebook other than those on my friend list have been temporarily blocked as Spam and I have also been temporarily blocked from making friend request. All of you know that I use FACEBOOK as a ministry tool, and I am trying my best to spread the blessings and the lifegiving Word of God as far and wide as I possibly can. Please help me in this effort by "sharing" my post with your friends and you are not "stealing" anything from me; these Words belong to God and HE wants to be known all over the world!! Also, since I can't send them one, please ask your friends to send me a "friend request" and I will be glad to add them to my list so they can receive my post on their news feed. I am praying for an increase in friends and an increase in the presence of the Spirit of God all over this World. God's Word NEVER goes out and comes back void. Please help me in this effort if you also believe in this Ministry. May God richly bless you with His Word, Love, and Power, ~Pastor Lynn

Little Country Church

Wooden, white, weathered and worn,

surrounded by hard pack, thistle and thorn.

Whitewash fades from warping walls.

The steeple bell no longer calls

the faithful in to find their pews

and be inspired by God’s Good News.

Stained glass memories of better days

create a multi colored haze

on unused pulpit, dust-caked floors,

a broken chair and open doors.

Tractor tracks gouge the gravel drive

where farming families once arrived

on Sunday morning and Wednesday night.

But now, the economic plight

has forced those families off the land

and into lives they never planned.

Weeds grow thru the picket fence

that surrounds the congregants

who lay beneath once well kept sod.

Headstones proclaim their faith in God

and say they have gone on to Glory.

But, no one’s here to read their story.

The scene is quaint and some say, sad.

An empty church.  But it’s not bad

because the seeds of faith they grew

have been transplanted someplace new.

The good news soon to be revealed

is of the increased harvest yield.

God’s field hands have been moved to where

they can witness, love and care

for those whose lives are in the lurch.

See, that building’s just a building.

God’s people are The Church.

I am going to end this day just the way I started it, Trusting in you, Lord.  I relinquish control of EVERYTHING into your hands. This is your world and my life belongs to you. You made the world and you made me. Do what you will with both; You are in control. Let me rest in Peace tonight and tomorrow nurture me with the light of your Presence and guide my every foot step for I have forsaken all that I have to be your disciple (Luke 14:33) ~Pastor Lynn

JUST FOR TODAY:  Are you all stressed out?  Could be because you are trying to make things happen before God says it's time.  Timing is one of the ways that God asserts HIS authority and His timing is always perfect.  Never late, never wrong.  So, relax and just ask God to show you how to move forward moment by moment.  This will help you to stay close to God and go about things His way and in His timing.  Rushing headlong with your agenda without His timing and guidance can be disastorous as well as very stressful.  Slow down a little and enjoy the journey; God is still on the throne and always will be.  GIVE HIM PRAISE!!  ~Pastor Lynn
