JUST FOR TODAY: If you are faceing trouble today, even if it is big trouble, you MUST keep those things on the outer edge of your mind and save the central part of your brain for focusing on the Lord. Trusting and Thankfulness is what will get you through this day. Trusting in Jesus will protect you from worry and stress. Thankfulness will keep you from complaining and criticizing. Worry and complaining are two old ugly sisters that will never help get through any kind of trouble; they just always make things worse. If you are focused on the Lord, you can entrust all of your cares to Him because you know that He cares for you!! (1 Peter 5:7) ~Pastor Lynn

Genesis 41:51
"...For God, said he, hath made me forget all my toil, and all my father's house."

When God begins to bless us
We forget all of our trials
Because the blessings over take us
And redeem those weary miles

All those years we waited
For the promise to come true
Now seem like mere moments
For he is blessing all we do

JUST FOR TODAY: Today would be a great day for prayers of Thankfulness.  I don't know what you are thankful for today, but for me I think I am most thankful for God's Mercy and His Grace.  There was a time I didn't appreciate God's Mercy and Grace; in fact, I didn't even really know what it was.  I don't think anybody is thankful for Mercy and Grace until they understand what it really means.  For me, Mercy is knowing that God Loves me so much that He DOES NOT give me what I really deserve (punishment), and Grace....well, that's knowing that God Loves me so much that He DOES give me what I DO NOT deserve (Forgiveness and Salvation).  Would you join me today in giving Him PRAISE for His Mercy and His Grace.  ~Pastor Lynn

Deuteronomy 4:27
"And because he loved thy fathers, therefore he chose their seed after them, and brought thee out in his sight with his mighty power out of Egypt."

Because of those who came before
These blessings do we reap
Because our fathers served the Lord
Their children will he keep

To many generations
Do these blessings flow
From our fathers and our grandfathers
To our children do they go

JUST FOR TODAY: Today is a great day to pray. Especially if you are experiencing difficult times and life seems to be closing in on you. Just remember that you have access through prayer to the one with all of the Power and all of the Glory. So, humbly take your petitions and prayer to God. Jesus gave a great example of the way we should pray in Matthew chapter six and there are seven key elements in a good prayer.  1. Acknowledge God for who he is. 2. Pray for his will to be done in your life, your church, your community, EVERYWHERE. 3. Pray for whatever provision your need for yourself and others. 4. Pray for forgiveness for the things that you have done wrong (be sure to forgive others who have wronged you while you're at it; this part is not negotionable) 5. Pray for guidance and direction. 6. Pray for protection 7. Give Thanks and Praises to God for all He has done, what he is doing right now, and for all He is going to do in the future. This is not a formula; you cannot put God in a box. Just use these elements as a guide and pray with honesty and from your heart. Hypocrites need not apply. Thank you for your prayers, ~Pastor Lynn

Psalm 41:1-2
"Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble. The Lord will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies."

If to the poor you are mindful
You can rest assured
That God is watching over you
And blessings, they are yours

And though your foes be many
And trials not a few
The Lord will deliver
And surely rescue you

Genesis 1:2 (NIV) 2Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

God takes things from disorder to order. He does so in our lives too, if we will let Him. As God began working with the formless matter, the Spirit hovered or brooded over the waters. In Revelation we see that waters can represent people. If we th...ink of this passage in a figurative sense, we see the Spirit of God like a mother hen brooding over the people of the world, trying to keep them from the predator. It is under the cover of darkness that predators attack, so the Spirit covers and protects us.

Then God sends His Light into the world. And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. Genesis 1:3 (NIV) John the Beloved told us in the first chapter of his gospel that Jesus was the Light that lights every man that comes into the world. He shined in the darkness but the darkness did not understand. Do you understand that the Light has shined upon you? What will you do with that Light? The Holy Spirit has hovered over you, too.

John went on to say that His own did not receive Him, but as many as did receive Him He gave the power to be sons of God. Receive Him and all that He should be to you today! Let Him bring order to the formlessness and emptiness of your life.

How can I respond to the light of God in my life today?

JUST FOR TODAY: "Arise, let us be going" (Matthew 26:46) Let these words of Jesus ring in your ears; especially if you are down and depressed. Sometimes we despair because of worry over things that have not even happened, and sometimes we despair because of real events in our lives. But the voice of Jesus inspiring us to "Arise, and get on with our life" is also very real, and He will hold on to us every step that we take. Satan would love for the memory of stumbling steps and past failures to defeat your next step. ARISE, because He who is in you is stronger than he who is the ruler of darkness and despair!! The voice of Satan brings forth despair and defeat; don't listen to that. Move forward Trusting God and listen to the sweet, strong voice of Jesus leading you to Peace and Victory!! ~Pastor Lynn

Genesis 1:1 (NIV) In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

In the beginning God... The Bible doesn't argue the existence of God. It does declare that it is the fool who says there is no God. (Psalm 14:1) The very first verse of the Bible begins with His action related to man, the creation of space and matter. That is the logical starting point of creation for an unchanging, eternal... God.

The Bible is a declaration of who God is and His relationship to His creation, man. This first verse tells us that God is before all things and the source of all things. The fact that He alone is responsible for all things should cause us to see that we owe our existence to Him. He is the ultimate standard for what is right and appropriate, for He is the source of all. Have you bowed your head to the One who gave you life and acknowledged that you owe your all to Him? Are you living in the recognition of the fact that "In the beginning God..."? What should that mean to you today and every day?

Take a moment to think of the One who inhabits eternity before space was spoken into existence. He brought it into being to create a place for you. He didn't need to. He wanted to. Do you want to know Him?

See the world around you today as a gift from the loving hands of your Creator.

JUST FOR TODAY: God is our Resource for ALL things; even the inspiration to "get up and get going".  And when it comes we must obey and get up ourselves; God will not LIFT you up when He has told you to GET up!!  Jesus told the man with the withered hand to "stretch out his hand".  (Matthew 12:13) As soon as the man did so, his hand was healed.  But the man had to take the initiative.  When we step up in Faith to be an overcomer, God will supply the Resource of His Power.  God does not give us overcoming life.....He gives us life as we overcome.  In other words, God gives abundant life and power AFTER we get up and get going!!!  What has God been trying to inspire you to do lately???  ~Pastor Lynn

FROM THE PASTOR'S PORCH: What resource do you Trust?

Here awhile back, I was sent on an errand to pick up one of my grand kids from school.  Now Dorian is five years old goin' on twenty-five and he is quite a character.  Like most five year old boys, he is pretty good at gettin' what he wants from his Paw Paw.  This particular day, he wanted to go to Braums after school for ice cream.  So I asked him,  “do you have any money?”  He scrunched up his face and looked at me like I was crazy.  Then he admitted, “No, I don't have any money”.   “Well, why don't you have any money, Dorian?”, I asked and he just shrugged his shoulders at me.  To me, that's never a very good answer.  So I told him, “I'll tell ya why you don't have any money; you don't have a job!  And if ya don't have any money, then ya can't have any ice cream!!”.   Well, that answer didn't set very will with him so he just sat there in the truck with a disgusted look on his face.  That didn't last very long and pretty soon I saw this big old ornery grin light up his face.  Then with that sparkle in his eye that only comes from a brilliant idea, he looked back up at me and said.........”Paw Paw, …....YOU have a job!!”  Well, I guess you know the rest of the story by now.  Me and Dorian went to Braums and Paw Paw sprung for the ice cream.

Dorian is only five years old, but he was smart enough to figure out where his best resource was to get what he wanted and he was not one bit bashful about asking for it either.  I hope that you adults are smart enough to figure out where I'm going with this.  Who do you think has the resources that you need to give you the things that you want and need?  Who created all things and is in control of all resources?  Who owns all the  cattle on a thousand hills??  Almighty God has more than enough resources to take care of ALL our needs.  He only stipulates that you first seek Him and His Kingdom and then all of these other things shall be added unto you.  The Bibles tells us to knock and the door will be opened, seek and you will find, ask and it shall be given to you.  How long has it been since you knocked, or seeked, or asked God for anything??  When are we going to finally figure out that we have not because we ask not.

My prayer for you today is that you will realize that God is where all of your resources come from and that you will start to Trust Him completely for all of your needs; Spiritual, Emotional, and Physical. Your circumstances will change drastically if you will just run to the Throne instead of running to the phone.  You just might be one of those people who cries out to God, “Please help me, Lord.  I'm at the end of all of my resources!!”  God will answer back, “Don't worry my child.  You are just at the beginning of mine!!”  So “don't be afraid and let not your heart be troubled.......”   The ice cream is on the way!!!  ~Pastor Lynn

JUST FOR TODAY: When Jesus finished what He came to do in this world, before He left to be at the right hand of the Father He said, "Peace is what I leave with you...".  He not only left it here for us He said, "My Peace I give unto you....".  What a gift!!!  Now when someone gives you a gift, that doesn't mean you have to accept it does it?  Many people reject Peace and instead they accept all this world has to offer.  Then we wonder why our hearts are so troubled and our life is so full of fear. (John 14:27)  Just remember it doesn't have to be that way for you because Jesus left His Peace here for you and it hasn't gone anywhere.  It is still here and available to all who will accept it.  What's your choice today??  ~Pastor Lynn

JUST FOR TODAY: Do not be afraid because God is with you!!  Do not be depressed or dismayed because He is YOUR God.  Take heart in the three great promises God makes to you in this scripture: He will strengthen you; He will help you; and He will lift you up above your circumstances with the strong right hand of His Righteousness!!! (Isaiah 41:10)  So lift up your head, straighten YOUR shoulders and don't let fear or depression rob you of the abundant life that God has planned for YOU.  Your Faith plus His Power equals nothing less than VICTORY!!!  ~Pastor Lynn

LOVE WITHOUT END...AMEN!

Most people, including Christians, look forward to Valentine’s Day each February. Everyone knows it’s a time when people express their love for one another. As such, I’m reminded of country singer George Strait’s song, "Love without End, Amen,” which tells the story of a young boy who, coming home after a schoolyard fight, anticipates forthcoming punishment from his dad. Fully expecting the wrath of his father, the son prepares for the worst. However, the father’s response was … "Let me tell you a secret about a father’s love. Daddies don’t just love their children every now and then -- it’s a love without end. Amen." The boy grew up and passed this secret on to his children. Isn’t it comforting to know that we have a Father like this? To believers, our Father’s love is no secret. Our God doesn’t just love His children “every now and then” -- indeed, His is a "love without end, Amen."

Webster’s dictionary defines love as “a strong liking for someone or something, or a passionate affection for another person.” Notice that Webster’s definition of love involves objects of the world, using the words “person” or “something.” Yet Webster’s definition seems incomplete because it falls short of how I would describe my love for my wife Jan, our children, and grandchildren. Likewise, any human definition falls short in an effort to describe “love.” Human beings are somewhat limited in their attempt to properly describe things which evoke deep emotions – such as the colors of a rainbow, a beautiful sunset, autumn leaves, or the aroma of spring flowers. I don’t have the vocabulary to fully express myself in such matters. And if I did, I’m not sure I have words that are descriptive or vivid enough to express what I feel.

The non-Christian Greek writer Lucian, who lived from 120-180 A.D., made an observation about Christians. He said, “It is incredible to see the fervor with which the people of that religion help each other in their wants. They spare nothing. Their first legislator (Jesus) has put it into their heads that they are brothers.” Lucian said that Christians “spare nothing.”  Sparing nothing is an example of unconditional love. So, where can we find a definition of love that is valid and real?

First, we need to remember that real [true] love is of and from God; therefore, a human definition will never suffice to describe it. God is the only completely accurate source for a definition that is primarily by, or an observation of, His actions. The love that God demonstrates (and defines) is even harder to grasp, thus we call it “unconditional love.” Second, unconditional love is the goal that we are [all] trying to achieve as Christians. The only way God’s love is made real and complete is for people to show love to others – both inside and outside our churches.

Now I’m not speaking of just platonic love, the kind of human love found within a family, or the conjugal love expressed between husband and wife. Rather, I refer to the kind of love and forgiveness we are commanded by God to have for others. This includes those who may not love us; but in fact, may even hate us. “Unconditional love” for those who hurt or hate us is difficult to attain even when we desire and pray for it. However, it is attainable by God’s grace and help.

We observe this “unconditional love” in Joseph after he had gone from the pit to the prison … and finally to the palace, a position of being second in command only to Pharoah (Gen. 37-50:15). Yet when his brothers came to Egypt to buy food, he wept over them, forgiving them with a “God-like” love although they had sold him into slavery. This is what we need today.

A Christian is a person who has met and believed on the [only begotten] Son of God, having passed from death to life through Jesus Christ. A Christian is one who has died to self and now lives for Jesus. A Christian i
