Apples of Gold, a devotional in Rhyme

February 14
Ephesians 4:26-27
"Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath; Neither give place to the devil."

The enemy desires a place
In your house and in your soul
But keeping him away
Must be one of our goals

For if we let the sun
Go down on our wrath
We should not be surprised
To find the devil in our path

JUST FOR TODAY: "Knock and the door will be opened; Seek and you will Find; ask and it shall be given to you."  "You have not because you ask not."  Has it ever crossed your mind that there might be someone out there tonight that has not recieved their miracle from God because YOU didn't ask Him for it?  Have you knocked and seeked and asked God for ANYTHING today.....on behalf of someone else?  Jesus Christ died on the cross for our redemption and to restore our relationship with God.  As good Bible believing Christians redeemed by the blood of Jesus, we have the opportunity to go boldly to the throne of God.  Don't you think it's about time we started taking advantage of this wonderful opportunity on a larger scale?  I would like to challenge and encourage you to pray for somebody tonight because somebody needs it.  ~Pastor Lynn

Romans 8:31
"What shall we say then to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?"

If God be for you
Then who can thwart his plan
Not devils or principalities
Not even wicked man

For if the Lord
Is on your side
To the very gates of heaven
He will be your guide

JUST FOR TODAY: Well, next Tuesday is Valentine's Day; A day we celebrate "Love".  So I thought it most appropiate to preach on 1st Corinthians, chapter 13; the "Love" Chapter as everyone calls it.  Just how important is "Love" anyway?  You can make a list of everything in the world and all things will be behind "Love".  Mainly because the Bible tells us that God is "Love" so that in itself makes it the most important thing in all the Universe.  Then Jesus tells us the most important of all the commandments is to "Love" God.  And then Jesus added this right behind it, "Love one another as I have Loved you".  And then....as Paul explains to us about "Spiritual Gifts" and how we are all different but important parts of the Body of Christ in Chapter 12, He closes the chapter with this "......yet I show to you a more excellent way."  And that my friend is the way of "Love".  Please read chapter 13 for yourself and then ask yourself this question: Is "Love" the most important thing in my life??  If you cannot honestly answer "yes", then adjustments in your life are certainly in order.  May God richly bless you with His Love, ~Pastor Lynn

Apples of Gold for today

February 12
Luke 22:31-32
"And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren."

Satan is not happy
When we leave his fold
And will do all in his power
To hold on to your soul

But Jesus will pray for you
Just as he did for Simon
For you are more precious to him
Than the most costly diamond

JUST FOR TODAY: Do you believe in the Power of Positive thinking? Well, it does work if you are focusing on the most Powerful and Positive being in the universe; JESUS CHRIST!! When you turn your thoughts to Jesus, and you know Him as Emmanual, "God with you", you cannot help but experience Joy!! You will never aquire anything that will satisfy the longing in your soul except Him. Psalm 37:4 tells us to "Delight" ourselves in Him. I pray that we all let Jesus become the "Desire" of our hearts today. ~Pastor Lynn

JUST FOR TODAY: The Lord has promised that He will keep you in perfect Peace, IF your mind is focused and thinking about Him!! ~Isiah 26:3.  Your mind is the greatest gift God has given you and it ought to be devoted to Him.  Many times when we hit on hard times, we think that our Faith is failing us.  Faith does not fail; the real problem lies with using our minds to focus and think about everything under the sun but God!!  We should be "....bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ....." ~2 Corinthians 10:5.   God is Faithful and He WILL keep His Promise to you if you stay focused on Him.  That is when YOUR Faith and the Spirit of God come together to give you Peace and make you the overcomer that God intended for you to be.  Your Faith in agreement with God's Spirit.....now that's an unbeatable combination!!!  ~Pastor Lynn

February 11
Ephesians 4:7
"But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ."

We all have a different calling
So we all have different grace
You will understand your measure
When you see him face to face

And face to face, you will see him
On that judgment day
To receive your reward from his hand
Or to be bid, from me go away

JUST FOR TODAY: Well, there was enough coals this morning to get  the fire roaring in both fire places. (with a little help from Nana's blow dryer).  The horses are fed, the dogs are fed, Nana and both grand kids spending the night are all still asleep, and now I'm sippin' on a good hot cup of Guatemalan coffee.  I hope that your day is startin' off as well as mine.  Like all families, we have our problems too, but I'm not going to dwell on the dark things in life this morning. How about you?  Let's all count our blessings this morning and be thankful that God's Peace is always there for us, shining through the good times and the bad.  I think that God is training all of us to seek His Peace that always overpowers the darkness in our lives.  I pray that you will cooperate in this training.  It really isn't all that hard to see God's Peace because it always stands out in sharp contrast to our circumstances.  It's all a matter of what you chose to focus on.   "Do not grow weary and lose heart".  ~Pastor Lynn

JUST FOR TODAY: How much do you trust the Lord Jesus? Enough to spend time with him when the week-end is pulling you away with all kind of activities that do not include Him?? Please don't fall into the habit of being constantly on the go. It is a trap that keeps you running and doing things that have absolutely no Spiritual worth or meaning. You will never have a meaningful relationship with the Lord if you don't spend some quality time with Him and stay in continuous communication with Him. How could your life be any better than having Jesus instructing you and teaching you in the way you should go? If you will just trust Him and spend ample time with Him, He will counsel you and keep His eye upon you!! I pray that you and the Lord have a great week-end together! ~Pastor Lynn

Today's entry from "Apples of Gold, a devotional in Rhyme"

February 10
Ephesians 2:10
"For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."

The works He has for you
Have already been laid out
Ours is but to seek his face
And his praises tout

We should try to remember
This little verse in Ephesians
So when the enemy taunts us
We can say our life has a reason

FROM THE PASTOR'S PORCH: Hear the instruction of thy Father!

What do you get when you cross a parrot with a Tiger?  I don't know....but when it talks, you better listen.  This old joke reminds me of my father, L. M. Walker.  He was a pretty quiet man most of the time. He worked hard and minded his own business.  But when he did say something, you better sure 'nuff pay attention.  Especially if you happen to be his son.  He did not tolerate disrespect or disobedience.  I guess being raised in that manner, I tended to raise my own children in the same way.  Should a father expect absolute and immediate obedience from his children?   I'm sure there are various opinions on the subject, but my oldest daughter, Holly, just celebrated her 36th birthday this month, and she wouldn't be here today if she had not heard and obeyed the instructions of her father.

When she was a little girl, about three or four years old, we were living in Ardmore, Oklahoma and they had just built a new McDonald's there. We pulled in and parked on the East side of the building.  Holly and her older brother, Travis, were very excited about the prospect of getting a burger and possibly some ice cream.  When Holly exited the old '74 Grand Torino, she bolted down the north side of the car heading for the entrance to her favorite eating establishment.  She could not see and was not looking for any danger, but I saw a young man pull into the South entrance and he was hot rodding  his souped up muscle car through the parking lot.  I was instantly terrified.  I could not get to her in time, so all I could do was yell one single command to her........STOP!!!   It all happened so fast!  She locked up like a bird dog on point, and the speeding car whizzed harmlessly in front of her as she stood at the very rear end of our vehicle.  My heart was about to jump out of my chest, but my daughter was safe.  I remember picking her up and holding her so tight and thanking God that she was alive and unharmed!

The Word of God says in Proverbs 1:8 ~ “....hear the instruction of thy father.....”.  There are many parents today that have not taught their children to listen to them.  You see them all the time chasing their kids around yelling, “come here.....stop that....come here.....you better stop that....” and on and on and on.  And the kid just keep on going and doing what ever it is he wants to do. This is not only annoying, but it is downright dangerous as well. The moral of the story is that children should be taught to listen and obey their parents.  That being said, what about you?  Are you listening to your Heavenly Father?

Now we all have problems and no one escapes them, but if your life is a total wreck and you are miserable with the way your life has turned out, chances are you have not been listening to Father God.  All of mankind dreams up ways of living that seem right to them, but if they are contrary to the Word of God, they will lead to destruction!!  The good news is that God can restore the years that the locust have eaten.  In other words, it's never to late to start listening to your Heavenly Father and start living a life of Protection and Peace. Don't put it off; start listening to Him today, and He will start watchi

JUST FOR TODAY: JESUS IS KING OF KINGS and LORD OF LORDS!! He is ABOVE all things. He is even ABOVE your circumstances. When you cry out "HELP ME JESUS!!", He will lift you up Spiritually and help you to rise above your circumstances; He will give you Rest and Peace in "heavenly realms". Quit wallowing in self pity UNDER your circumstances. You are a child of God and He purposes you to be the head not the tail; no matter what your circumstances. Remember that He is above all things; even your problems, your pain, and ALL the ups and downs this old world may bring. If you will Trust Jesus and stay Focused on Him, you can be above all these things as well. He knows your weakness and He will meet you where you're at, but don't expect him to stay there and be your pity partner and wallow in the mire with you. He's ABOVE all of that!! ~Pastor Lynn

February 9
Acts 22:15
"For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard."

What have you watched
Your master do
These miracles you've seen
Were not just for you

We must share with others
And speak of his great power
For the rapture is approaching
Yes, that very hour

Here's your apple for today.  "Apples of Gold, a devotional in Rhyme"

February 8
1 Corinthians 15:58
"Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmch as ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord."

No matter what you see
No matter what you feel
If your labor is for the Lord
Your reward will be very real

You may not see the profit
You may not see the gain
But your Father is watching
And he sees all you pain

JUST FOR TODAY: Yes, it is hard to remember that your objective is to drain the swamp when you're up to you're you know what in alligators!!! It is not easy to stay focused on Jesus when the world, your own flesh, and even Satan himself is doing everything possible to distract you. But we must always remember Romans 8:28~ "All things work for good for those who Love the Lord and are called according to His purpose." We must guard at all cost our desire to live in God's Presence because that is how we get through the hard times; One step and one moment at a time. It is our responsibility to stay focused on Him and let him guide us through all of our circumstances; good or bad. If we lose our focus on Jesus, we lose our Peace that passes all understanding. ~Pastor Lynn

John 20:25
"...Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe."

Don't be unbelieving
Like our brother Thomas
But run to the open arms of God
And receive his wonderful promise

He has promised to save and restore you
In his holy word he said
You shall live forever
As I am now living, though I were dead

February 5
2 Kings 8:6
"...Restore all that was hers, and all the fruits of the field since the day that she left the land, even until now."

Have you left the things of God
To see what the world had to offer
If you will but return to him
He'll shut the mouth of the scoffers

For he is the God that will restore
And give back all you've lost
Because, for all our backslidings
He paid the awful cost
