Joh 9:4 As long as it is day, we must do the work of him who sent me; night is coming when no one can work.

"Is the seed yet in the barn?  Yea, as yet the vine, and the fig tree, and pomegranate, and the olive tree, hath not brought forth: from this day, will I bless you."

The seeds we've been sowing
Are about to spring up
Whatever we have sown
That shall fill our cup

If you've sown to the world
You shall reap from it destruction
If you've sown to the Lord
There shall be no corruption

Haggai 2:4
"...be strong, all ye people of the land, saith the Lord, and work; for I am with you, saith the Lord of hosts:"

We must be strong
For our foes are many
But our weapons are mighty
And our provisions are plenty

So work for the Lord
While it is still called today
For darkness is coming
It's no time to play

Rom 8:26 In the same way the Spirit also comes to help us, weak as we are. For we do not know how we ought to pray; the Spirit himself pleads with God for us in groans that words cannot express.
Rom 8:27 And God, who sees into our hearts, knows what the thought of the Spirit is; because the Spirit pleads with God on behalf of his people and in accordance with his will.
Rom 8:28 We know that in all things God works for good with those who love him, those whom he has called according to his purpose.

1 Samuel 15:22
"And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord?  Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams."

Even if you give unto the Lord
That's not all He requires
He wants us to obey Him
That we might not be found liars

So give Him your obedience
Give Him your best
That on that final day
You may enter into His rest

1 Samuel 14:6
"...There is no restraint to the Lord to save by many or by few."

It's nothing to the Lord
To save by many or by few
So commit all thy works to Him
All that you say and do

He will gladly save you
Pull you to His side
Place His feathers over you
Under His wings shall you abide

I do a lot of ponderin' and wishin' here, and throw my thoughts hither an' yon, hopin' that I get something that you might think upon. If nothing else it sure does make my ol' brain do some reeling at times. There are those days that I mention heading for the high lonesome, but know what? We have never done it. Every time we have thought about it the Lord sort of pokes us and says, "nope." That was a preface for this little poem that I found by Tim Spencer (1942) titled, "It Seems to Me."

I stood there on Broadway and gazed

At towers and temples, jumbled maze

Of steel and stone and masonry

I could but think, it seems to me,

With all the boundless lands we own

We're fools to live in cliffs of stone

When there are breezes wild and free

I could but think it, seems to me,

That folks in subways, jammed to death

Just breathin' of each other's breath

Should chuck it all and go and see

The open range--it seems to me.

When there's so much of space and room

Where kids could play, where flowers bloom

On shady carpets 'neath a tree

We've missed the boat, it seems to me.

I stood down where the "forties" roar

And wondered what they're roarin' for

The magic city's symphony

Of clang and bang--it seems to me.

Oh, you New Yorkers with your speed

Your Forty-Second Street stampede

Too much for me--I'd never be

A city guy--it seems to me.

I wonder how many times the four friends: Peter, Andrew, James and John longed for the smell of the sea and the wind blowing on their face as they went about the daily catch. Paul, on the other hand was the city man, and when he had to be on the way or in the wilderness he longed for the city.

Each of these men had to follow the way that the Lord had for them. Each of them learned to be "content in all circumstances." The problem with so many Christians is that they do not want to accept that lesson of life. Grumbling and complaining they much prefer, or they disregard what the Lord wants and they seek to travel a life seeking their selfish desires. Therefore, no matter where or when, the call is to serve the Lord.

D. Adkisson

"I don't say this out of need, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. I know both how to have a little, and I know how to have a lot, in any and all circumstances I have learned the secret of being content--whether well-fed or hungry, whether in abundance or in need."

--Philippians 4:11-12 (HCSB)

"Only fear the Lord, and serve him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things he hath done for you."

Think about the Lord
And all He's done for you
And how He delivered
When you had done all you could do

More than we'll ever know
So let us give Him our love
And our affection, to Him show

Joh 7:15 The Jewish authorities were greatly surprised and said, "How does this man know so much when he has never been to school?"
Joh 7:16 Jesus answered, "What I teach is not my own teaching, but it comes from God, who sent me.

Eph 1:9 God did what he had purposed, and made known to us the secret plan he had already decided to complete by means of Christ.
Eph 1:10 This plan, which God will complete when the time is right, is to bring all creation together, everything in heaven and on earth, with Christ as head.
Eph 1:11 All things are done according to God's plan and decision; and God chose us to be his own people in union with Christ because of his own purpose, based on what he had decided from the very beginning.

Psa 65:8 The whole world stands in awe of the great things that you have done. Your deeds bring shouts of joy from one end of the earth to the other.
Psa 65:9 You show your care for the land by sending rain; you make it rich and fertile. You fill the streams with water; you provide the earth with crops. This is how you do it:
Psa 65:10 you send abundant rain on the plowed fields and soak them with water; you soften the soil with showers and cause the young plants to grow.
Psa 65:11 What a rich harvest your goodness provides! Wherever you go there is plenty.
Psa 65:12 The pastures are filled with flocks; the hillsides are full of joy.
Psa 65:13 The fields are covered with sheep; the valleys are full of wheat. Everything shouts and sings for joy.

"Now therefore stand and see this great thing, which the Lord will do before your eyes."

The Lord will do great things
Before your very eyes
Things you wouldn't believe
Could be so great and wise

So be prepared to rejoice
At what He's about to do
He's going to win the victory
For each of us, me and you

"The spiritual life cannot be made suburban."

--Howard Macey

During Sunday School last Sunday the lesson was on Redemption. I really never thought too much about the term. I know we are redeemed by the "precious blood of Jesus." The standard definition, in my mind, was to be purchased back by a price. I decided to go back to the oldest book of the Bible--Job and read the few insightful and prophetic verses of Job. Here they are, Job 19:25-27 (HCSB):

"But I know my living Redeemer and He will stand on the dust at last. Even after my skin has been destroyed, yet I will see God in my flesh. I will see Him myself; my eyes will look at Him, and not as a stranger. My heart longs within me."

So let me throw a few thoughts your way to ponder. Now, mind you this is not in depth, but just to stir up that gray matter some. This "Redeemer" was a guarantor of rights and privileges. He would restore, and this was primarily ownership and property rights, and he was the "avenger of blood." This was the person who stood beside the weaker family members and would aid them if they were oppressed. Here are a couple more Scriptures to ponder:

Jeremiah 50:34 (HCSB), "Their Redeemer is strong; Yahweh of Hosts is His name."

Proverbs 23:11 (HCSB), "for their Redeemer is strong, and He will take up their case against you."

He is the strongman, the older brother so to speak, the muscle of the family. I'm sure more thoughts could be inferred because the verse in Jeremiah indicates that the Redeemer is the commander of the armies of heaven.

On to Numbers 35:19 (HCSB), "The avenger of blood himself is to kill the murderer; when he finds him, he is to kill him." This could read "The redeemer himself..." for it is the same word. The "avenger of blood"--the Redeemer; he was the kinsman who redeemed the life of an individual by taking the life of the murderer.

It has made my mind churn. When Pharaoh killed the male infants and threatened to do it a second time the Death Angel moved through the land; he was referred to as the Angel of the Lord. Hmmm--the Redeemer? Is the picture of Revelation 1:14-15 a picture of the Redeemer, ready as the avenger of blood?

To sum it up, according to Habel, "The responsibility of the 'go'el' [Hebrew word for Redeemer] could involve avenging the blood of a murdered member of the clan or family; redeeming someone from bondage; regaining family property to keep it within the family inheritance; or marrying a widow to provide an heir for her deceased husband."

D. Adkisson

"His head and hair were white like wool--white as snow, His eyes like a fiery flame, His feet like fine bronze fired in a furnace, and His voice like the sound of cascading waters."

--Revelation 1:14-15 (HCSB)

1 Samuel 11:9
"...Tomorrow, by that time the sun be hot, ye shall have help..."

What a sweet promise
From a wonderful Master
He will even send an Army
To keep us from disaster

So I will look to the Lord
And to His mighty hand
I won't trust in flesh
I won't turn to man

"And let it be, when these signs are come unto thee, that thou do as occasion serve thee, for God is with thee."

When you know God is with you
You're safe in your endeavor
For nothing can come against God
Not now, no not ever

So when the Lord opens a door
Do not be scared to go through
For if He has led you there
He will surely be with you

Joh 6:37 Everyone whom my Father gives me will come to me. I will never turn away anyone who comes to me,
Joh 6:38 because I have come down from heaven to do not my own will but the will of him who sent me.
Joh 6:39 And it is the will of him who sent me that I should not lose any of all those he has given me, but that I should raise them all to life on the last day.
