JUST FOR TODAY: There are many lessons about the Gospel of Christ that we must learn and accept; we must listen and watch how Godly people live there lives and then do those things as well. What things? The things that are TRUE, things that are HONEST, things that are JUST, things that are PURE, things that are of LOVE, things that are of GOOD REPORT; A "GOOD REPORT" is one that reports of the virtuous and goodness of God's actions, and give us reasons that He should recieve our Praise. Think on these things and keep them on your mind; and the God of peace shall be with you. Thinking otherwise leads to chaos, dissatisfaction, and falling into sin. (Philippians 4:8-9) ~Walker

Hag 1:9  You expected much, but received only a little. And when you brought it home, I made that little disappear. Why have I done this? It's because you hurry off to build your own houses, while my temple is still in ruins.

JUST FOR TODAY: We need to understand that whoever or whatever we yield ourselves to as servants, that is who or what we will obey. The choice is ours; we can obey sin unto death or we can obey righteousness unto eternal life. If we serve sin we are free of righteousness, but if we serve righteousness we are free from sin. Jesus said that we could not serve two masters; we will hate one or the other. Is living in sin so tempting that we would obey it and die?? "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life throught Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 6:23). I think the better choice would be to obey righteousness unto eternal life through our Lord Jesus Christ. Would you agree?? ~Walker

"No human creature ever entered a desert oasis without joy, nor left it without regret."

               --Zane Grey

"He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock

      That shadows a dry, thirsty land;

He hideth my life in the depths of His love,

And covers me there with His hand,

And covers me there with His hand."

               --Fanny J. Crosby

How many bones lie just a hillside away from the oasis, the spring of life?  How many, with just a little more effort, would have made it over the rise to see the refreshing water below?  How many, if they would have just endured a little longer, and not given in to the struggle of life would have made it to the reviving waters?  How many, how many, if they would not have parted from the way and became disoriented would have made it from one water tank to another?  Their stories will never be told except if one happens to find their bleached bones along the way.

If we really grasp the lessons that the wilderness will teach we will find it is not for our destruction, but for our growth and salvation.  All self-sufficiency is stripped away.  As Zeb Long points out, "In the wilderness the veneer of meaning is stripped away.  Here we fall into the abyss of chaos and beyond, into a deeper abyss of God's mysterious love.  In the wilderness we meet the devil in a thousand forms who tempts and torments us.  We meet ourselves as enemy and friend.  We encounter God in a combat of opposing wills."

With effort, with trust in God, with the development of your character your body will not be among those fallen by the wayside.  The dangers of the wilderness are real.  It is in the wilderness that we will find true knowledge of ourselves.  We will come to know who we really are.  We will also find that our knowledge of God grows and our relationship deepens.  It is in the wilderness that we come to realize the grace of God.

So as you gaze on those high rugged peaks and feel the wind swoop down through the canyons understand the height of the wilderness.  Gaze out on the desert, look into the canyons and valleys of the desert with the stifling heat and understand the depth of the wilderness.  Let these fill your soul and then look into the face of God from whose love nothing can separate us.

                                                              D. Adkisson

"O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you.  My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water."

               --Psalm 63:1 (NLT)

JUST FOR TODAY: This old world sure seems to be going haywire these days. Seems like everywhere we look that wrong-doers and sin abound. It is true that sin surely abounds, but we must never forget that the GRACE of God abounds even more....much more. It is true that sin has led us into death of our mortal bodies; but even so, God's Grace will lead us through righteousness all the way to eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord. So what's the score? Sin and the Devil are zero; Grace and the righteousness of Jesus Christ is EVERYTHING!! (Romans 5:20-21) ~Walker

2Co 11:3  I am afraid that your minds will be corrupted and that you will abandon your full and pure devotion to Christ---in the same way that Eve was deceived by the snake's clever lies.
2Co 11:4  For you gladly tolerate anyone who comes to you and preaches a different Jesus, not the one we preached; and you accept a spirit and a gospel completely different from the Spirit and the gospel you received from us!

JUST FOR TODAY: "Rejoice in the Lord alway; and again I say Rejoice. Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand." (Philippians 4:4-5 KJV) Rejoice in the Lord "alway" (no "s" on the end of "alway"). Does this mean to rejoice "all the time" or "in all your ways"?? Let's do both to make sure we get it right. Are you way right or way left; Do others see you as a radical for your cause or do they see the other end of the spectrum as someone who just doesn't care one way or the other. Neither of these positions are correct scripturally. The Apostle Paul says to show 'em your moderation. Remember "the Lord is at hand" and that means He is close, very close. That means we better be producing Spiritual Fruit and not acting like religeous nuts!! ~Walker

Joh 6:65  And he added, "This is the very reason I told you that no people can come to me unless the Father makes it possible for them to do so."
Joh 6:66  Because of this, many of Jesus' followers turned back and would not go with him any more.
Joh 6:67  So he asked the twelve disciples, "And you---would you also like to leave?"

JUST FOR TODAY: There are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, and it is especially bad when they show up from out of God's own people. Their mouths must be stopped before they cause cracks and chisms or completely break up the home of a family or even the house of God, teaching things which they ought not, all for the sake of filthy lucre!! Yes, that's what it all boils down to isn't it? It's always about the money. It is truly a shame that money causes us so many problems because money is just like everything else; it all belongs to God anyway. (Titus 1:10-11) ~Walker

JUST FOR TODAY: Be always ready to do good works and do not speak evil of any man. Do not be a brawler, but instead be gentle and show meekness to all men. Why? Because that person you would like to speak evil about and punch out probably hasn't done anything that you haven't already done your own self....or maybe even worse. After all the things that we have done, the kindness and Love of God our Saviour still appeared to us even though we sure didn't deserve it!! Maybe we should act according to the Mercy that has been shown to us?? This is a Faithful saying that we should affirm constantly. (Titus 3:1-8) ~Walker

JUST FOR TODAY: "...so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved." (Philippians 4:1) Paul wrote this to the folks he truly Loved at the first church he planted in Europe. The term "stand fast" means to stay where you are and be firmly secured or tied to the Lord. Paul wrote this because he knew that our Lord is ALWAYS Faithful and Trustworthy; he will never leave or forsake us, but sometimes we are not always so. We live in a society that is prone to "church hop" or fall away or "turn loose" completely of the Lord. A Loving relationship with the Lord takes two; He will ALWAYS stand fast in you. Will you always do the same for Him? ~Walker

THE GAP...

There is a huge gap between the birth of a dream (vision) and the achievement of that dream. Do we ever truly reach the end or is it a continous journey? Someone once said, the question we have to ask ourselves is whether the gap will be a fulfillment gap or a frustation gap. If it's a frustration gap you'll be miserable most of the days you're in it. And everyday you're frust...
rated instead of fulfilled, you lessen the odds that you'll be able to keep moving forward toward your dream (or vision). The Bible says "Don't be impatient for the Lord to act! Keep traveling steadily along his pathway and in due season he will honor you with every blessing." God has promised us more than just the "fulfillment" of a dream; but he has promised "joy" in our journey toward it. Be encouraged and press on down the trail...REMEMBER EACH DAY IS A FULFILLMENT OF YOUR DREAM!

2Co 5:14  We are ruled by the love of Christ, now that we recognize that one man died for everyone, which means that they all share in his death.
2Co 5:15  He died for all, so that those who live should no longer live for themselves, but only for him who died and was raised to life for their sake.
2Co 5:16  No longer, then, do we judge anyone by human standards.

JUST FOR TODAY: Paul wrote to the young Preacher, Titus, "For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lust, we should live soberly, righteously, and Godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that He might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee." (Titus 2:11-15) ~Walker

Eph 4:13 And so we shall all come together to that oneness in our faith and in our knowledge of the Son of God; we shall become mature people, reaching to the very height of Christ's full stature. Eph 4:14 Then we shall no longer be children, carried by the waves and blown about by every shifting wind of the teaching of deceitful people, who lead others into error by the tricks they invent. Eph 4:15 Instead, by speaking the truth in a spirit of love, we must grow up in every way to Christ, who is the head.

JUST FOR TODAY: There is a time coming when people will not endure solid teaching. They will run from teacher to teacher, piling them up trying to find one that will teach only what they want to hear. They will turn away from listening to the Truth, and instead will be turned on by the latest "new age" teaching thought up by some man instead of God's Word. This time is coming sooner than you think, and I believe that it is already here. Don't get caught up in this nonsense and pay attention to what you let your ears hear. There has never been a time when reading the Bible for yourself has been more important!! Beware of having itchy ears; when something sounds to good to be true....it probably isn't.

JUST FOR TODAY: Don't just Trust God up to a certain point and then fall away from Him. God expects us to always have an underlying confidence in Him and His sovereign control of the universe. Don't be one of those who Jesus must speak to saying, "why are you so fearful, O you of little Faith?" (Matthew 8:26) Are you peacefully resting in His Presence; have you reached that point of total oneness with Him? Oneness with God not only makes us blameless in His sight, it also makes us a profound Joy to Him. Let's put a smile on God's face with our Faith!! ~Walker

JUST FOR TODAY: We all experience times of turmoil and lack of strength in our life. If your life is a wreck and you feel so weak that you cannot handle the stress of it all, DO NOT give up Hope!! God has promised in His Word that if we keep our mind stayed (focused) upon Him that He will keep us in perfect Peace. If you have no Peace that means you have lost your focus. God says to Trust in Him for ever; that means Trust Him ALL the time: for in the Lord JEHOVAH is everlasting strength. You will always find the strength you need if you will always put your Trust in God. Focus and Trust God, and may your day be filled with Peace and Strength! (Isaiah 26:3-4) ~Walker
