Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Carl Ray is a genuine singing cowboy. This singer, songwriter has made an impressive impact on the country music scene with his incredible talent, handsome smile, dynamic personality, and hypnotic tenor voice.
Likened to Vince Gill, Ray’s musical journey has been a rather eclectic one. It began at an early age while opening for many notable R&B artist. As his musical interest developed and expanded, he began writing more of his own songs and was then discovered by reggae International Artist, Johnny Nash. It was actually Nash who introduced his young prodigy to country music and he went on to record with Nash and Brook Benton and others.
Ray is now a seasoned entertainer who has come full circle to embrace his roots. As a regular at Nashville’s CMA Festival, and elsewhere during the course of his country music career, he has had the good fortune to share the bill with some of country music's biggest names, both in the United States and in Switzerland. In addition to producing and recording two country music CD’s of his own, he also joined forces with honky-tonk crooner David Ball to record “A Text Book Case Of What Not To Do”.
Ray has just finished his first bluegrass Gospel record and in his words “it was a true labor of love”. The CD, titled Coming Home, was produced by Ray and Grammy Award Winner Greg Cole, who has previously worked with Vince Gill, Ricky Skaggs, Rhonda Vincent, Jeff and Sheri Easter, Darryl Singletary, and Ray Price among others.
Ray’s pilgrimage to bluegrass Gospel has been a long time coming and he is excited to not only have several well-known pickers join him but also one of the genre's most popular entertainers. Rhonda Vincent sings with Ray on the popular hymn, "Old Rugged Cross", Darrin Vincent, Rhonda's brother, is on bass, Seth Taylor on acoustic and mandolin, BJ Cherryholmes on fiddle, Josh Swift on dobro, Jesse Baker on banjo and Aaron McCune singing bass, rounds out this amazing group of musicians.
Ray believes this is his best musical work because the Gospel bluegrass songs on this album allow him to share his faith and testimony with the world. He feels strongly that if ever the world needed hope, and to hear about the saving Grace of our Lord and Savior, it is now. Ray is praying that Goodwill open up doors for him to share his testimony
and to share his music. WWW.Carlray.com
