rush springs watermelon

Very few things can make an old man say,
“I haven't felt like this since my younger days!!”
But sometimes it happens and it's not my fault,
It's a Rush Springs watermelon and a shaker of salt!!

I Cut it wide open with plans from the start
to beat the grand kids to that delicious ripe heart!!
Now you kids get some forks while I salt it down.
I'll have it half eat before they turn back around!!

Oh, my goodness!! How juicy and sweet!!!
God made nothin' better than red watermelon meat.
With a smile on our faces and juice on our chins
It sure takes me back to my childhood again.

Under that old elm tree with the swamp cooler blowin'
Old Curly Chambers melons were there for the showin'
Sellin' watermelons was sure fun as now I look back....
And I pert near got rich.... seventy-five cents at a whack!!
