Isa 55:6 Turn to the LORD and pray to him, now that he is near.
Isa 55:7 Let the wicked leave their way of life and change their way of thinking. Let them turn to the LORD, our God; he is merciful and quick to forgive.

JUST FOR TODAY: In the New Testament (1 Corinthians 3:16), Paul gives us the revelation that our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit.  So what does this Old Testament Scripture mean to you??  "Within your temple, O God, we meditate on your unfailing Love." ~Psalm 48:9.  I'm thinkin' it means that I should constantly be thinking about how much God Loves me.  I like that!!  When we meditate on HIS Love that puts us in HIS Presence.  In His Presence there is Life and Light abundant; and the one the Lord Loves will find rest between His shoulders.  ~Pastor Lynn

Isa 55:3 "Listen now, my people, and come to me; come to me, and you will have life! I will make a lasting covenant with you and give you the blessings I promised to David.

Isa 55:1 The LORD says, "Come, everyone who is thirsty--- here is water! Come, you that have no money--- buy grain and eat! Come! Buy wine and milk--- it will cost you nothing!
Isa 55:2 Why spend money on what does not satisfy? Why spend your wages and still be hungry? Listen to me and do what I say, and you will enjoy the best food of all.

Act 1:8 But when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, you will be filled with power, and you will be witnesses for me in Jerusalem, in all of Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
Act 1:11 and said, "Galileans, why are you standing there looking up at the sky?

JUST FOR TODAY: Are you trying to change your will?  You know; trying to change the things you WANT to do??  Are you trying to change your behavior and clean up your act for the better?  Those are lofty goals and they are good, but you are setting yourself up for disappointment if you try to do this on your own.  Don't get me wrong, you do have to participate in the process but all this change is really God's doing.  Your job is to stay focused on HIM!!  When you slow down and spend time with the Lord, that is when Philippians 2:13 will come alive in your life.  "For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose."  God Loves you just like you are; tremendous change in your life only comes when you take time to Love him back!!  ~Pastor Lynn

JUST FOR TODAY: Believers should learn to love to pray!!  Praying is the one thing that ALL believers are commanded to do; pray without ceasing and pray about ALL things!!  Praying for others is the most POWERFUL thing you can do for them, but in James 5:13-18, the first thing we are taught about prayer is individual prayer; pray for YOURSELF!!  "Is any among you afflicted??  Let HIM pray."  Are you afflicted today?  I don't mean just afflicted with some sort of physical sickness.  Are you afflicted with emotional or spiritual problems??  Who isn't "afflicted' with SOMETHING!!!  Then by all means, this scripture is exhorting you to take your case to God Almighty.  PRAY FOR YOURSELF!!  What do you think will do you the most good; praying or complaining??  ~Pastor Lynn

This was etched by the side of the door of the bunkhouse; a person could not leave without seeing these words:

“Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls.  But       they said, We will not walk therein.”  (Jeremiah 6:16, KJV)

Common sense has seemed to be lost somewhere and this includes moral and spiritual sense as well.  Perhaps it is time to stand still and find the old trails, or the godly way.  There is so much clamor to be modern, to be contemporary, to change, to be tolerant and politically correct that we have forsaken the old paths.

Very few people that I talk with mention eternal values, but seem to be more interested in the day, the financial situation, or what they can do to have fun.  They want to interpret life and Scripture to fit their needs.  Ravi Zacharias said, “Life is to be lived at a level where the norm becomes meaningful in the light of eternal values, rather than interpreting eternal values according to what is normal for us.”

Changes?  Well, changes certainly come, but not to the “old paths.”  Changes may come in many ways especially in the area of technology, but not in the basics or foundational things.  Dare you to walk in the woods without a knife?  Well, perhaps in this cupcake society in which we live some might, but it is not a good idea.  A person just does not know what may happen.  But the person with common sense, when walking in the woods will have some kind of knife on them.  What kind of knife?  The kind of knife represents the change, but the knife is doctrinal.

John Daniel Jones put it very succinctly, “The great need of our day is not the discovery of new truths but the vitalization of old ones.”  Practice the truth of God’s Word, do not try to reinterpret it.  There are too many who subscribe to the thoughts of higher criticism and postmodernism.  Do not be like those in the last sentence of Jeremiah and arrogantly proclaim, “We will not walk therein.”  In those few words they have mocked the God of heaven and earth and have proclaimed themselves to be deity.

Going out the door to the reality of the day, walk in the godly way, the “old paths.”

At COWBOY CHURCH @ The Hippodrome we don't just go to church, we ARE the church. And when we gather together with each other, or with other believers, we have church.

We do not offer creeds or ideologies, theories or theologies. In the end, we offer Jesus, "God-who-suffers-with-us." (From "Out of the Ashes" by Bill Crowder)

Be careful of what you are looking for,
and even more careful of what you find.
Cause the devil will try to drown your Spirit,
Your heart, your soul, and your mind!! ~Walker

Morning Prayer: Lord, thank you for being my friend!!  Help me to see and love folks the way that you do today; let me treat everyone the way that I would want to be treated.  I am looking for Peace and trying to do  everything I do and say the way YOU want me to do it; I can't do that without focusing on and staying close to you.  Help me.  In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

"Who is the man who desires life, and loves many days, that he may see good??(sign me up!!)  Keep your tongue from evil, and you lips from speaking deceit. Depart from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it." ~Psalm 34:12-14

I've had past experience as a salesman; retail and wholesale.  The training for a successful salesman is pretty simple: 1. Qualify the customer (is he/she a serious and able buyer) 2. Pitch your product (tell the customer about all the benefits and why he/she needs your product) 3. Ask for the sale!! (don't pitch your product and then stand there like a big idiot!!  You have not because you ask not; Ask the customer to buy and THEN shut up!!  If you follow these three simple steps, you will sell a LOT of product!!  Evangelism is somewhat similar.  It's easy to qualify people's need for Jesus; we have all sinned and fallen short of His Glory so we ALL desperately need Jesus plus you know they can afford it; it's FREE!!!  One other thing, you must qualify yourself as a born again believer and follower of Jesus in order to help others  2. Witnessing to folks is like Pitching the product in sales.  Although product knowledge is helpful, you don't have to be a Bible Scholar, but you do have to be honest and just tell folks what Jesus has done for you.  3. Ask for the sale!!!  Be like Jesus when He told Zaccheaus "come down out of that tree right now"  Ask folks to come to Jesus and tell them the day of salvation is TODAY!!  Do it now before it's too late!!!  If you follow these three simple steps you will be an evangelist.  You will NOT lead everyone to the Lord that you witness to so don't be discouraged when most will say NO; BUT, Oh how the angels in Heaven will rejoice and how your heart will soar when some do say, "yes, I want to give my heart and life to Jesus."!!!!!  Jesus is the only one who saves, but how do think you will feel knowing that someone will have Eternal Life because YOU told 'em about Jesus!!!  ~Pastor Lynn

One day when Jesus was a young boy, he was trying to learn to play baseball.  He was out on the field all by himself.  He would toss the ball up in the air with his left hand and then grab the bat with both hands and try to hit the ball.  He missed; not once but over and over again.  He was beginning to get a little discouraged when all of a sudden he got some great encouragement from His Heavenly Father: God's thunderous voice crashed through the clouds and He said, "This is my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased.  I had no idea that He was such a great pitcher!!!"  Please don't look for this parable in the Bible; I just thought it was a cute fictitious story but it really does have a good moral.  God really does love you and He will always be there to encourage you.  Keep on swinging!!!  ~Pastor Lynn

I'm following Jesus one step at a time,
I live for the moment in His love divine.
Why think of tomorrow, just live for today,
I'm following Jesus each step of the way.

The pathway is narrow, but He leads me on,
I walk in His shadow, my fears are all gone.
My spirit grows stronger, each moment, each day,
For Jesus is leading each step of the way.
               --Redd Harper

Growing up back in Colorado this little song was sung in our church from time-to-time.  Very simple song with a simple tune, but there is so much truth here as well.  So much of our life is spent in fretting about tomorrow.  That is not to say that we should not plan for tomorrow, but at the same time, our trust and faith must be in Jesus.
I think that sometimes we forget who we are in Christ.  No, that's not it--we forget who Christ is.  He is the great I AM.  No wonder other religions have trouble with that for none of their so-called gods can make that statement.  If we could just get that truth that was givent to Moses so many millennia ago our lives would be changed.  I AM--He is the God of yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
Think for a moment of that one attribute of God--omnipresence.  If we really trust Jesus why would we worry about tomorrow?  He is already there.  He transcends time, that element that is so oppressive and so damaging to us, but it is where we live.  Live in this day that He has given you and follow Him.
Greet each day and the thought of tomorrow with those words:  "my spirit grows stronger, each moment, each day," and face the world with a smile of grim determination "for Jesus is leading each step of the way."

"So we say with confidence, 'The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.  What can man do to me?'"

JUST FOR TODAY: God says that the way to receive His peace is by keeping our thoughts focused on Him.  If you find that you have everything but Peace going on in your life, that is because you have run from God instead of running to Him.  And sometimes we even run ahead of God poking our nose into the future and worrying about things we have no control over.  When you do this you forfeit the Peace that comes only from walking moment by moment with Him.  Please read this promise from ISAIAH 26:3-4: "You will keep him in perfect PEACE, whose mind is stayed on You, because he TRUST You.  TRUST in the LORD forever, for in YAH, the LORD, is everlasting STRENGTH."  Do you know someone who could use Peace and Strength in their life today (besides yourself)??  Please show them how much you Love them and pass this word on to them.  ~Pastor Lynn

MORNING PRAYER:  Thank you Father for allowing me to wake up and come boldly to your throne.  Please help me to never take your Love for granted.  Forgive me of my sins and teach me today, Lord; let me allow you to change the way that I live.  Show yourself to me and help me show Your face to others today in my words and actions.  Your word says that by Your stripes we are healed.  I stand on that scripture today Lord, and ask for your healing spirit and power to be poured out on all my friends and loved ones who are sick physically, emotionally, or spiritually.  I give you Praise for all you have already done, for what you are doing right this moment, and for what you will do in the future. I Love you with all my heart!!!  In the name of Jesus, Amen!!

"But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in God's unfailing Love for ever and ever."  ~Psalm 52:8

JUST FOR TODAY: In the world, dependency is looked upon as a sign of immaturity, but in the Kingdom of God, dependency and Trust in Jesus is a sure sign of maturity.  When you are dependent on Him, fear and stress will melt away in the Light of His Presence.  It is when you turn away and try to be independent that you become vulnerable to the darkness of this world.  Out of the Light and into the darkness is where we fall into sin; don't go there!!!  This world sees dependency as weakness, but God sees it as FAITH!!  Depend on the Lord today and please Him with your faith!!  ~Pastor Lynn

"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." ~ISAIAH 41:10
"Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from Him.  He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will not be shaken."  ~Psalm 62:5-6

JUST FOR TODAY: Don't let success give you the big head and don't let failure break your heart.  God has something to teach you and bless you with in both cases.  He will always be with you and Love you through both ups and downs.  Simply Trust Him and be thankful for ALL things. Remember that ALL things work for good for those who Love God and are called according to HIS purposes. (Romans 8:28)  ~Pastor Lynn
