JUST FOR TODAY: Satan, you have hosed me down today with all kinds of problems and distractions. Is that all you've got?? You better quit messin' with me because I am a child of the most high God!! My well being does not depend on any circumstances that you have stuck your nasty finger in. My well being and Joy are firmly and forever connected to the "precious promises" of my Lord: He is always with me no matter what I do or where I go; He will meet all of my needs according to His glorious riches in Heaven; and there is NOTHING that Satan, or anyone else can do to separate me from His Love!! On top of all that, I can do all things through Christ which strengthens ME!!! Take that, Satan, and get back under my feet where you belong! ~Pastor Lynn

JUST FOR TODAY: Many folks will waste a lot of time and energy today trying to control their circumstances. They think that if things are going well that they will be happy; and if things are not going well then they will be sad. But the truth is it is possible to be content in any and every situation if we put our time and energy into Trusting the Lord and enjoying His Presence. Jesus never puts up a barrier between you and His Presence; we do that to ourselves when we put our Trust in ourself or anything else. You can live as close to the Lord Jesus today as you choose!! Choose wisely and have a blessed day. (Philippians 4:12, Romans 8:38-39) ~Pastor Lynn

Isa 54:17 But no weapon will be able to hurt you; you will have an answer for all who accuse you. I will defend my servants and give them victory." The LORD has spoken.

god's grace is sufficent.  be still, and know that god is god.

2Co 12:8  Three times I prayed to the Lord about this and asked him to take it away.
2Co 12:9  But his answer was: "My grace is all you need, for my power is greatest when you are weak." I am most happy, then, to be proud of my weaknesses, in order to feel the protection of Christ's power over me.

“Behold, he prayeth.”
- Act_9:11
Prayers are instantly noticed in heaven. The moment Saul began to pray the Lord heard him. Here is comfort for the distressed but praying soul. Oftentimes a poor broken-hearted one bends his knee, but can only utter his wailing in the language of sighs and tears; yet that groan has made all the harps of heaven thrill with music; that tear has been caught by God and treasured in the lachrymatory of heaven. “Thou puttest my tears into thy bottle,” implies that they are caught as they flow. The suppliant, whose fears prevent his words, will be well understood by the Most High. He may only look up with misty eye; but “prayer is the falling of a tear.” Tears are the diamonds of heaven; sighs are a part of the music of Jehovah’s court, and are numbered with “the sublimest strains that reach the majesty on high.” Think not that your prayer, however weak or trembling, will be unregarded. Jacob’s ladder is lofty, but our prayers shall lean upon the Angel of the covenant and so climb its starry rounds. Our God not only hears prayer but also loves to hear it. “He forgetteth not the cry of the humble.” True, he regards not high looks and lofty words; he cares not for the pomp and pageantry of kings; he listens not to the swell of martial music; he regards not the triumph and pride of man; but wherever there is a heart big with sorrow, or a lip quivering with agony, or a deep groan, or a penitential sigh, the heart of Jehovah is open; he marks it down in the registry of his memory; he puts our prayers, like rose leaves, between the pages of his book of remembrance, and when the volume is opened at last, there shall be a precious fragrance springing up therefrom.
“Faith asks no signal from the skies,
To show that prayers accepted rise,
Our Priest is in his holy place,
And answers from the throne of grace.” ~ Spurgeon

JUST FOR TODAY: It is time that you get a good night's sleep tonight, so tell your soul to return to rest; Rest in your Faith that Jesus has already dealt bountifully with you and all of your problems. You don't have the Power to even see into the future, let alone the ability to "fix" what lies ahead, but the Lord Jesus can, He will, and He has already!! "For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling". (Psalm 116:8) If you believe this, speak it, rest easy tonight, and tomorrow you will "...walk before the Lord in the land of the living". GIVE HIM PRAISE!!! (Psalm 116: 7-9) ~Pastor Lynn

JUST FOR TODAY: In this world, there are going to be times we find trouble and sorrow. Don't fall into the traps of Satan when these things happen; He wants to drive you away from God with Stress, depression, worry and fear. These are times to run to God not be driven away by hurt and bitterness. King David wrote, "Then I called out to the Lord; O Lord, I beseech (beg) thee, deliver my soul." You will find as King David did that the Lord is gracious, righteous, and merciful. When you are beat down and "brought low", Jesus will be right there to help you!! (Psalms 116: 3-6) ~Pastor Lynn

JUST FOR TODAY: We make a big mistake if we run away from God and work like crazy to make our life what we think it should be. So what is the answer? God says "in returning (to God) and rest shall you be saved; in quietness and in confidence (Trust) shall be your strength". Returning to God, resting, quietness, and Trusting.... sounds much better than running (especially the wrong way) and working (especially for the wrong reasons). May your day be filled with Salvation and Strength in the Lord Jesus. (Isaiah 30:15) ~Pastor Lynn

JUST FOR TODAY: Lack of Faith causes us to be blind to the things of God. We cannot see past the end of our nose Spiritually, and we will forget who purged us from our old sins. So do not let your Faith slip away from you. Instead, with all diligence, work to keep your Faith strong and growing that you may be sure of your calling and salvation; If you do these things, you will not fall: "For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly (A door will open to more than meet your needs) into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ." If you want to enter into the everlasting kingdom of God, don't forget your key.....FAITH!!! (2 Peter 1: 9-11) ~Pastor Lynn

Phm 1:1  From Paul, who is in jail for serving Christ Jesus, and from Timothy, who is like a brother because of our faith. Philemon, you work with us and are very dear to us. This letter is to you
Phm 1:2  and to the church that meets in your home. It is also to our dear friend Apphia and to Archippus, who serves the Lord as we do.
Phm 1:3  I pray that God our Father and our Lord Jesus Christ will be kind to you and will bless you with peace!

I was asked recently what "my ideal church" would look like. I responded, "to have a church with NO walls - more of a flash-mob church where we just send out a text as to the time and place to meet."

Well, we are getting close! Cowboy Church will be meeting this Sunday morning at Gurley's IGA in Warrenville @ 9:30 am. We will also meet there on the 18th. Then Cowboy Church @ The Hippodrome on the 25th for the Winter Classic Barrel Horse Show.

God's moving in our midst! We just need to get where He is.

JUST FOR TODAY: There are things that must be added to our Faith with all diligence and the process goes in this order. To your Faith add virtue (goodness), then add to your virtue knowledge (the Holy Spirit will teach you all things). Add to your knowledge moderation; stay on the straight and narrow; don't wander into the bar ditch of being a radical on one side to not caring about anything on the other. Now add to moderation a good dose of Patience...they don't call it "longsuffering for nothin'. Now add Godliness; do it the way God would do it; remember WWJD? Now add kindness and top it all off with the most important ingredient of all....LOVE!! If these things abound in you, you will not be barren or unfruitful. You will become useable to God and put a big smile on His face!! (2 Peter 1:5-8) ~Pastor Lynn

JUST FOR TODAY: We should all be very thankful for the precious Faith that we have obtained. Like all good things, Faith comes to us from above "through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ." (1 Peter 1:1). Faith allows us to grow and increase in knowledge about God and Jesus our Lord. This knowledge is what increases and multiplies for us more and more unmerited favor (Grace) and Peace. Your Faith is indeed very precious; take care of it and nurture it for Faith is what opens the gate of Divine Power in your life and all things that are Godly. Faith is calling you today to the Glory of God and His Goodness!!! (1 Peter 1:1-3) ~Pastor Lynn

"It seemed the man was glad to be alive and riding free and easy across that smiling expanse where life was but one day gliding into another, where the hot sun dripped over the snow peaks and the stars came out clear and frosty in the fathomless night sky."

               --Ernesy Haycox

"Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,

Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!"

               --Thomas L. Chisholm

Go back a few days to Sunday.  The Lord's Day, a day of rest and reflection, a day of respite from the cares of the world.  It was a time to ponder the events of the prior week and structure a plan for the upcoming week.  Sunday, ahhhh, a day of rest.

Then Monday was soon upon us.  Was it hard to get up?  Monday's usually do not present a great problem for me.  I like to get the week started; usually up and raring to go.  There may be an idea of what will happen in the week, but it is never certain.

There is no assurance that the trail will go exactly where you think.  It might be down to the valley along the still waters where the grass is green and soft and the sound of the water rippling over the rocks in the nearby stream will bring a solemnity to your soul.  However, it may be up the steep trails and wind back and forth and you trudge them until you reach the summit of the mountain.  There is a relief when you reach the summit; above the clouds, where the skies are bright and the air brings a chill.

There may be curves along the trail that cannot be seen around and thus travel may bring uncertainty.  Traveling along one may encounter deadfalls on the trail that will have to be moved or climbed over or gone around before the forward travel can continue.  Stormy weather may come that will force you to hold up from your travel and seek shelter in the cleft of the rock.

The trail may be bright and sunny the first part of the week, and turn to a gale by the end of the week.  Or it could start off with the wind howling and then wither away to a nice breeze by Friday.  We may have maps of the trail, we may have weather reports, we may have plans for what we think the trail will hold, but these can all change in a flash.  A trail may be washed out by a recent storm and we might have to take an alternate route.  The weather can change rapidly, without notice, and plans may be forced to change as we might be able to travel as far in one day as we had hoped.  We may look out over a vista toward our destination and it looks like an easy day's travel.  However, along the way there may be chasms to cross that we could not see from the earlier vantage point.  There may be rushing streams that must be crossed carefully.

The trail, dark and mysterious; the trail, bright and sunny; the trail which we travel despite the rocks, turns, storms, and other things that may make us take refuge.  Do not fear the trail; it is before you.  Do not fear the trail for the Hand that guides knows every step along the way.

                               D. Adkisson

"Teach your way, O LORD; lead me in a straight [trail] because of my oppressors."
