TRUTH AND LIGHT
by Lahry Sibley
Joh 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
GRACE......and TRUTH.....the passion of my heart!
How much that is not true, does it take to pollute truth, and toxify it's effect?
Deu 4:2 Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.
For truth to remain truth, it must be preserved pure and holy. PURE, NOTHING ADDED. It must be complete, without withholding. Oh that we are faithful to TRUTH.
Joh 1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
Joh 1:5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
In darkness and secret, men vainly attempt to hide their deeds of iniquity. The terror of their soul, is for light to come, and expose them for what they really are. TRUTH and LIGHT are without distinction, where you have one, you have the other. Darkness, and those who live there, despise truth, because it's light reveals all things hidden.
Joh 1:11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
HOW CAN THIS BE? And yet we know it's true. We must remember, that Israel and the JEWS had many experiences in captivity. They were not holy (sanctified). Their hearts were blended with paganism. At the time the LIGHT came, they had not that long been out of Babylonian captivity. They were there for hundreds of years. No bible. No Torah. Just stories passed along.
So when they came back to YERUSALEM, their religions leaders were "appointed", but not "ANOINTED". They were self centered godless men, who lived for the glory of themselves, and used religion as a tool live in darkness.
Though clearly prophecied for hundreds of years, the first coming did not appeal to the selfish and self centered. It did not appeal to the carnal lusts of men. Those texts of HIS first coming escaped the interest of the rabbis, and the arrival of a KING in a manager, was of no interest to them at all.
When HE grew up and entered into the will of the FATHER for HIS life, they could only ask "is this not the carpenter's son"? No religious pedigree at all.
And they RECEIEVED HIM NOT.
Is it any different today? Not from my vantage point. RELIGIOUS people still reject TRUTH, even when they read it with their own lips. Why? Because their hearts are far from HIM. They are religious, but they are not converted. They sit on the throne of their own temple, and proclaim THEMSELVES, as ANTI-CHRIST. They are LORD of their own lives. ANTI-CHRIST. How do I know this? Because they refuse to OBEY HIM.
HE arrives every day of the year, not just one day trodded under the feet of pagan/religious merchandisers. EVERY DAY, HE is at the door of the heart, knocking........but they receive HIM not. If you live like a religious fool the whole year long, what makes you think there will be any blessing under a tree rooted in pagan mythology, come December 25th? What glory will colored blinking lights bring? As the dawn breaks and a new day begins this coming Wednesday, billions of people will awake to emptiness and despair, worn out on the squirrel cage of life without hope. They will wonder what all the fuss was about, as the labors of months of preparation fade into the cheers of football fans. They will wonder how they missed it somehow. The expected reward, just never arrived. And the cycle will begin anew, for what ever momentary pleasure and gratification one can muster among the rocks painted gold in this world.
HIS truth and light only begins in a manger. But it finds its glory on a CROSS! "A what?” A CROSS. "WELL, BRO Lahry, you can't expect a CROSS to be popular and appealing". Ah, but that is where you miss it. The CROSS is the narrow gate that we all must strive to find, and so few do. It is the door way of truth and light. If we do not meet the SAVIOR there, we will not find HIM at all.
HE waits for us at the CROSS. Only there, understanding our necessity for our own death upon it, do we first see the light of truth. The empowerment of truth and life is birthed, not in a manger, but on that CROSS. Life, HIS life illumines within us there, when we choose to die there to sin and self. There the struggles of this life end, and the ease of burden begins. Our life for HIS, not in a manger, but at the CROSS.......Selah.
