FROM THE PASTOR'S PORCH: BORN AGAIN-How refreshing!! Well, I woke up this morning not feeling all that refreshed. Casey and I have been very busy this week making all the last minute preparations to leave on our mission trip to Guatemala. I realized this morning when I felt a little dry and didn't feel like writing anything this morning it was because I was frantically searching my mind for ...something to do!! When we start thinking, “ I've got to do this or that or it will never get done.”, that is a sure sign of staleness in our life. Freshness in our lives does not come from obedience or doing good works, it comes from the Holy Spirit. All I had to do this morning to get refreshed was slow down my mind, pray a little while, read a few scriptures in my Bible, and remember that I am Born Again!! These are the things that invite the Holy Spirit to come rushing into our lives and refresh us with His awesome Power!! Being “Born Again” gives us a freshness in our thinking, our talking, and our actions and the supply is unending!! Sometimes we underestimate what being “Born Again” really means. There is much more to it than we usually think. “Being born again by the Holy Spirit is an unmistakable work of God, as mysterious as the wind, and as surprising as God Himself. It gives us new vision and keeps us absolutely fresh for everything through the never-ending supply of the life of God.”-Oswald Chambers. John 3:3 tells us “....unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God”. I pray that you are seeing the Kingdom of God today through eyes and mind that have been refreshed by the Holy Spirit.
