"It may follow you, but it's not you anymore.  It seems like the past will always try to come back on us and drag us down."   (Henry McLaughlin)

The past can be an enemy or a friend.  It is always there for it becomes part of a man.  To learn from the past is an aid to life, but many people let the past rule them, haunt them, and they live in regret.

Far too many people let the past drag them down.  The devil will use the past to condemn, to taunt, and to keep people from moving forward.  However, the Word of the Lord declares: "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new ceation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."  (2 Cor. 5:17, NKJV)

Luk 24:38 But Jesus told them, "What's frightening you? And why are you doubting?
Luk 24:39 Look at my hands and my feet, because it's really me. Touch me and look at me, because a ghost doesn't have flesh and bones as you see that I have."

THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE BEST!!
I live on the run, with a penchant for fun
but this life don't always roll that a way.
So take the good with bad, and you better be glad
that there's coming a much better day.
Enjoy life when it's good, be strong when it bad
Cause God has it all under control.
He's coming of course, on that great big white horse
So get ready for the good times to roll!!
Yes, get ready my friend, live your life for Him
He's up there preparing your home
where tears won't be cried, and nobody dies,
and the bad times will forever be gone!!

"All day I face the barren waste
Without the taste of water, cool water."

Written by Bob Nolan, this song is one of my favorites.  It's a good old cowboy song, yet loaded with truth and analogies about life.  All of us were in that situation once, and there is a good chance you brushed shoulders with someone today in that situation; someone facing the barren waste of life.  How many go home to loneliness?  How many sit in the midst of people, yet have a barren soul?  How many live in the despair of regret with no hope, only barrenness?

"Old Dan and I with throats burnt dry
And souls that cry for water,
            Cool, clear water."

Remember the woman at the well?  She had a soul that was dry and went about trying to quench her thirst with the things of the world.  She tried to indulge her lusts, to only be thirsty again.  Those out there addicted try to quench their thirst to only want more, and then more.  Their spiritual throats are burnt dry, their souls indeed do cry for water.  The woman found water for Jesus told her soul could find relief for its thirst.  The relief was in Him.  In Him that longing can be quenched from the refreshing water of the Holy Spirit.
Just look at that another verse from that song.

"The shadows sway and seem to say,
          'Tonight we pray for water,
           Cool water.'
And 'way up there He'll hear our pray'r
And show us where there's water,
           Cool, clear water."

Call upon the "thirst-quencher" and He will pour it out.  He will show us the oasis in the deserts of our lives.  He will guide us to that refreshing, soul-quenching water.
I was once asked if I could have a ministry or a ranch what I would call it.  I said immediately:  "Cool Water Ministries," or "Cool Water Ranch."  A place where the soul can be refreshed, or a home where there is satisfaction for the weary body.  A place where one can find an answer to the toils of life.  Oh, the toils may not go away, but the soul is refreshed from the cool, clear water.

You will see things and hear things today that you do not like, but do not forget that God has called you to be a witness, not a judge.  Can you truly see the hearts of other men and women the way that God can?  Of course not!!  There are times we have problems knowing our own hearts.  So let's be slow to condemn others today and be very quick to encourage.  We have the sure Word of God to direct our lives today; let's not dare rely on anything else.  ~Pastor Lynn

Others may look at you and think you will never make it.  "He can't cut it" or "She ain't smart enough" or "They won't stay married six month!!"  Sometimes we even think those things about ourselves.  And maybe it's true that we have shortcomings that could cause us to fail.  But then along comes God and He says, "Ask what I shall give thee?"  What is it that you need God to add to your life that you don't already have in order to be successful??  Only you can answer that question but take a look at Solomon's relationship with God that led up to God making that offer.  1 Kings 3:3-4 tells us that Solomon loved the LORD, that he was obediently living in the Godly statutes he learned from his father, and that he was a GIVER; he was willing to make great sacrifices to the Lord.  If we all followed Solomon's example of living in relationship with the Lord, we also might hear God say, "hey kid, what can I help you with??"  ~Pastor Lynn

Have you ever been in a situation that you didn't know how to handle it or what to do; in way over your head??  King Solomon gave God credit for putting him in a situation like that when he said, "And now, O Lord my god, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child:  I know not how to go out or come in."  God sometimes puts us in over our heads but he doesn't expect us to panic or bail out; He expects us to Trust Him and know we will be successful with His help.  God may call you to do something far above YOUR abilities, but He will never call you to do something above HIS.  God does not call the qualified, He qualifies the called!!  ~Pastor Lynn

Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is God's power for the salvation of everyone who believes, of the Jew first and of the Greek as well.
Rom 1:17 For in the gospel God's righteousness is being revealed from faith to faith, as it is written, "The righteous will live by faith."
Rom 1:18 For God's wrath is being revealed from heaven against all the ungodliness and wickedness of those who in their wickedness suppress the truth.

Psa 56:8 You know how troubled I am; you have kept a record of my tears. Aren't they listed in your book?
Psa 56:9 The day I call to you, my enemies will be turned back. I know this: God is on my side---
Psa 56:10 the LORD, whose promises I praise.

Out east the sun is shining and rising fast,
Out west a drilling rig is tripping pipe.
Down south lie beautiful rolling hills,
Up north the blackberry patch is ripe!!

Outside it's warm and windy
With grasshoppers out in force.
Yesterday I took down the 'lectric fence,
I sure do miss my horse.

Enough time spent just gazing around,
no more coffee in the pot.
Get around old man and head to town,
And be thankful for what you've got!!
I can feel God's presence with me,
And He will forget me not!!
With Praise today, I'm on my way
and yes, I'm thankful for what I've got!!

This is the day the Lord hath made And I will be glad in it!!  ~Pastor Lynn

One of the "evil doers" hanging on a cross next to Jesus cried out to Him, "Lord, remember me when you come into your kingdom."  And the Loving, gentle Jesus replied with compassion, even while suffering an agonizing death, "Surely I say unto you, this day you shall be with me in paradise."  Unfathomable Love and Forgiveness; Oh, what a Savior!!! We have much reason this morning hour to thank Him and give Him PRAISE!!!(Luke 23:42-43)

Do not fall into the trap of trying to please God with your life; it cannot be done no matter how hard you try because, let's face it, we are just not that "good".  The only life that pleases God is the life of His Son, Jesus.  So you need to prepare yourself this morning for Jesus, living in you, to crucify your self-life as Paul writes in Galatians 2:20:  "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of god, who loved me, and gave Himself for me."  Don't TRY to be like Jesus; just surrender to Him and let Jesus be Jesus in YOU.  ~Pastor Lynn

Who is God??  "He is the Rock, His work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right IS He."  (Deuteronomy 32:4)  I like the way Moses tells it like it is.  God is not A Rock, He is THE Rock.  He is the only solid, unchanging thing that we can always count on....forever.  God does not make mistakes and He always makes good decisions.  Even if they are not the ones that WE would make.  Unlike you and me, He never lies and never goes against the moral standards that He sets.  That's why we should obey Him and Trust Him for He alone is ALWAYS fair and He is ALWAYS right.   ~Pastor Lynn

Joel 1:3 Tell your children about it; they will tell their children, who in turn will tell the next generation.

Eph 2:17 So Christ came and preached the Good News of peace to all---to you Gentiles, who were far away from God, and to the Jews, who were near to him.
Eph 2:18 It is through Christ that all of us, Jews and Gentiles, are able to come in the one Spirit into the presence of the Father.
Eph 2:19 So then, you Gentiles are not foreigners or strangers any longer; you are now citizens together with God's people and members of the family of God.
Eph 2:20 You, too, are built upon the foundation laid by the apostles and prophets, the cornerstone being Christ Jesus himself.

When I come to God in prayer, why do I enter His gates with thanksgiving?? Why do I come into His courts with Praise?? Why am I so thankful and bless His Holy Name?? It is because, like King David, I have a heart for God and I truly do Love Him, but sometimes I am not a very good person; sometimes I am downright terrible. Yet through it all, God STILL Loves me because, unlike me, He is ALWAYS good...; His Mercy is everlasting, and His Truth will endure to all generations. If you are a "good" person, I am glad for you, but you still need Jesus; If you are like me and not all that "good", you need Him even more!! Everybody needs the forgiveness and salvation of Jesus Christ and some of us have reason to be a little more Thankful than others. GIVE HIM PRAISE!!! ~Pastor Lynn  (Psalm 100:4-5)
