Spreading the love of Jesus...the Cowboy Way!

Shelly : Lord how can I know you better?
Lord: “Know my Names

This moment with Jesus launched me into a deep dive to study and understand His names. I have found it one of the most beautiful times in my relationship with Him. Certainly I knew His names and many of their meanings; however, they were not yet deep into my heart. I find in prayer I am always longing for Him to reveal His next step for MY life or a revelation to my final destination and land of promise. Yet all He ever wants is for me to simply SEEK HIM. The rest just sort of happens. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. (Matt 6:33) How is it that we miss this so?

I have found an awakening within my soul to Him and His ways simply by learning and understanding better His names. It was beautiful one morning when I was re-reading Psalm 91, a passage that has been part of my walk with the Lord for years now. He has used this same Psalm with me through seasons of illness and healing, as well as seasons of fear and anxiety. Both times He required me to put the passage to memory. However, I had honestly not put to memory very well the end of the passage. Let me show you what He showed me.

Psalm 91 (Amp)
14Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore will I deliver him; I will set him on high, because he knows and understands my name [has a personal knowledge of my mercy, love, and kindness--trusts and relies on me, knowing I will never forsake him, no, never].
15He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him.16With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation.

How could I have missed this? LIGHT BULB MOMENT! HELLO SHELLY! WHERE YA BEEN KID! HE’S BEEN TRYIN TO TELL YA THIS ONE FOR LIKE A DECADE NOW! One of the most personal scriptures in the Bible to me and I totally missed this truth! I love how God can take His Word and make it NEW no matter how many times you have read it over and over! His Word is always acting in the present! Love it Jesus! His names are not mere names. They reveal His character and His ways! His names are WHO HE IS! His names also allow us to call upon His revelation of Himself in a specific situation. When I needed healing in my body, I called on Jehovah Rapha, the Lord who heals me and when I am struggling with finances or needs being met I call on Jehovah Jireh, the Lord who provides! This has taught me so much about Him. My study of this progresses and I am still learning. I love seeing in the Word how His peeps called upon Him according to their need. What a beautiful truth about His heart for us! Truly He is El Shaddai… The All Sufficient God!!
For fun, why don’t you go re-read the story of David and Goliath and let God show you who He was in that moment with David in battle! He has a name in there you might have never seen before. You will love it!! I am working on an activity for the girls in our Drama Queens for the King Clubs so they can learn early the names and character of God. So I thought I would include a few for you as you read! Soak up who HE is! This is just a small list of some of my favs!
