Window Pain

The windows in our living room don’t have curtains or blinds over them and they have no panes separating little squares in the glass either. Just long tall windows that look out on to green pastures and mountains. During the day the light streams through the windows and brightens the entire house. At night when the moon is full the light falls through a small window on the eve of the roof. It’s one of my favorite things about our home. We’ve watched our horses grazing and playing across the…

A Call to Arms

Once my daughter was thrown from a horse during lessons as a child and I rushed over and carried her from the arena, she was shaken up but ok after a little pep talk from some of the other risers I helped her back in the saddle. One day my son rode his bike down a hill on our farm and misjudged a turn and he went flying into the bushes on the other side of the road. Again I rushed over and picked him up and help him in my arms as I pulled briars out of his hair. Many times I’ve picked my…

The Grand Illusion

How is it that someone can suppose to say “I serve Christ” and yet reject another Christ follower? How does a man stand behind a pulpit and teach the principles of the bible and create mischief and falsely accuse without regard? Some people are as stubborn as a Missouri mule about doing church work, but as sly as a fox in their own business deals; as busy as a bee in spreading the latest gossip, but as quiet as a mouse in spreading the gospel of Christ. Many are as blind as a bat to see the…

Given the Chance

I have never been one to subscribe to magazines yet there is one that for many years I would buy at the local farm supply store. Finally one Fathers Day Suzanne got me a subscription to American Cowboy. It’s not a large magazine but it speaks to me with its grass roots cowboy contributions. Recently the magazine’s editor sent out a question over the social web pages asking,…

Church One Day

by 6ene Blankenship

I went to church this Sunday

to sing, pray, worship and praise

At the end of the service a comittee broke out

They said when you come back again

Ask the Lord before you come in

If you should sing and sway whats that all about

Come back next week if it's church you seek

So off I went considering my song

Lord fill my heart make me strong

Next Sunday I went to church

To sing and pray this time to worship

Again I was told now…

Get a Life

What does the Bible say about moving on? Many times, because of loss in our lives, we have had events that affected our physical and psychological well being. The loss of a job, the breaking of a friendship, a couple breaks up, or a family argument causes a great divide between once close relationships. How do we cope with such loss?

Recently I was reading about dealing with loss in the work place. Today many Americans are out of work with no job prospects in sight. Having…
