Our greatest progress comes from our greatest pain; so the Lord doesn't save us from it but strengthens us in it. It's when we pass God's test that He fills us with His joy. Remember pain is inevitable....misery is optional! Blessings! jan

Rebirth of Cross Timbers Cowboy Church

In late 2014 Cross Timbers Cowboy Church closed in Butler, IL and I took a job as pastor of a small Baptist Church in Virginia, IL. The church had been losing members for years as it had a pretty shonky reputation and the members decided to close it down, leave the SBC and sell the church and parsonage back in April. The 5 remaining members decided to still meet in the parsonage with me as the pastor and last week I talked them into not selling the church or parsonage to an outsider but to…

Leave Your Safety Zone and Launch Out into Deep Water

In Luke 5:4 Jesus said to Peter, “Launch out into the deep [water] and let down your nets for a catch.” This is a message for us today as we look toward the year of 2017. If you plan to travel the path of the Status Quo then you likely will never break any new barriers or reach new goals in 2017. Just to live your life following the crowd and never be willing to leave your Safety Zone will translate into failure. Sometimes, we are like Peter who fished throughout the night, but caught no…

In Need of singers for the McAlester Italian Festival in McAlester, Oklahoma on May 14th

I am coordinating the Gospel Singing for the Italian Festival in McAlester, Oklahoma at the Southeast Expo.  It will be on May 14th, Mother's Day. I know this is not a good time, but there will be lots of people there and they are looking for something to bring people in on the last day.  They have a meal scheduled for noon and usually they sell out within a few hours, but this year they are hoping to have enough food for them to be able to go on longer.  But I need at least 4 groups or…

The Gift

This year of 2016 has truly been one to remember. Our presidential election was like no other in my lifetime. We must now pray for our new president and leaders believing they will honor God and bring back the godly principles this nation was built upon. However, no other person has ever touched the world in quite the way Jesus did. The Gift of all gifts, Jesus is truly the Unspeakable Gift sent by God the Father. He came as a babe in a manger but will return as King of Kings and Lord of…

Cowboy Humor by Mike Vaughn

Three Men were arguing over which profession was the oldest. Said the Surgeon: "The Bible says Eve was made by carving a rib out of Adam. I guess that makes mine the oldest profession," Not at all, "said the engineer. "In six days the earth was created out of chaos and that was an engineer's job." Said the politician: "Yes, but who created the chaos?"

Cowboy Humor by Mike Vaughn

A pastor was invited to lunch one day at the home of a well-to-do church member. To the pastor's surprise and that of his host, there was no knife fork or spoon at the pastor's plate.

The wife asked her young daughter why she had not placed any silverware at the pastor's place. "Oh,he doesn't need any," she answered.…
