The Chris Weis Band is an up and coming Christian Country band based in Athens, Texas. The sound is an eclectic mix of classic country and red dirt country with a blue grass edge. The bands debut album, Brand New Start, was produced by legendary producer Don Johnson (producer and music director for Ricky Skaggs and Emmylou Harris). The blue grass influences are evident.

*Lead singer and band founder, Chris Weisinger, was born in Athens, the younger of two children. Chris was active in church as a child and started singing in church at an early age. Chris started playing guitar and wrote his first song, Brand New Start in 1994. In June of 1994, Chris took a job as an outdoor guide at a Christian camp in Colorado and while there was severely injured in a climbing accident. By the prayers of many believers, God delivered Chris through this devastating time and completely healed and restored him to health.

Later, Chris became involved with some musicians playing the local bar scene. Chris made the statement, “I really thought I was strong enough in my faith that my Christian walk would not be affected. Boy, was I wrong!” He began drinking an occasional beer and before long was getting drunk several times a week. Chris stated “At one point I was playing the bar scene on Saturday and leading worship on Sunday.” God, however, had a much better plan. In May, 2012, Chris surrendered to God’s will and quit playing in bars to follow God’s lead. God’s blessing began to immediately pour out upon him. Chris heard a song called “Different Kind of Crown” by Billy Ryan Droze. Upon receiving permission, he recorded the song and sent it to Tate Music Group. Within days he was offered a recording and marketing contract.

*The song, “Brand New Start”, that Chris had written years earlier, is fittingly the title track of his debut album. Chris feels that he has been granted a brand new start in his spiritual walk as well as his music career. He can’t wait to see how God uses this ministry to reach the lost and have others receive a “brand new start” through God’s saving grace.

The Chris Weis Band believes the Bible to be the inspired, only infallible, authoritative Word of God. We believe that there is one God eternally existent in three persons: The Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe in Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood. We believe in his bodily resurrection, and in His personal return in power and glory. We believe in the present-day works of the Holy Spirit to inspire and empower believers to be effective followers of Jesus Christ. We believe in the resurrection of the saved to eternal life, and the everlasting punishment of those who have rejected God’s forgiveness in His Son. We believe we are called to use our GOD given gifts to let people know about the saving grace and healing power of Jesus Christ.

The bands ministry includes leading worship for both adults and youth, performing concerts, and playing numerous benefits.
