JUST FOR TODAY: I'll never forget the first time I wore a tuxcedo for a piano recital. I thought I looked pretty snazzy in that black tux, but as I look back I realize that puttin' me in a tux was kinda like puttin' whipped cream on an onion!! I may have had on some fancy duds, but I was still just a little country boy from Cement, OK on the inside. We need to remember that, "...the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart." (1 Samuel 16:7) Lord please help us to have hearts that are better than anything we could possible wear on the outside. ~Pastor Lynn

2Jn 1:9

Anyone who does not stay with the teaching of Christ, but goes beyond it, does not have God. Whoever does stay with the teaching has both the Father and the Son.

Pro 29:25 It is dangerous to be concerned with what others think of you, but if you trust the LORD, you are safe.

FOR A CHRISTIAN, THINGS CAN TURN UGLY...

Have you ever had an experience that seemed to be going okay and turn for the worst in amtter of time or even moments? Has things appealed to you as a Christian, only to be a "wolf in sheep's clothing"? Satan has a tendency to make things "look" good and appealing, yet it is a trap or snare to cause us to fall into his evil scheme. The Apostle Paul gave us good advise in Ephesions 6:11, "Put on the WHOLE armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil." We can clearly see that Satan had been doing his thing since the Garden of Eden. The forbidden fruit was appealing and looked delicious, yet once Adam and Eve partook of it they experienced seperation from God and eventually physical death. Even to a born again believer, thigns can look peaceful, innocent and "nothing wrong with that" kind of thing, but it can errupt into spiritual devastation, heartbreak and a damaged relationship with people and with the Lord. An illustration on the cowboy side of it: On October 26th, 1881 at 3pm in the afternoon, the most famous western gunfight took place; the gunfight at the OK Corral in Tombstone Arizona. What looked like a peaceful resolvement of a problem and, it probably was planned to be, the Earps and Doc Holliday approached the Clantons and McLaurys in what they thought was just a routine "give up your guns" thing. In fact, Virgil stated that a gunfight was "not what he wanted". Walking into the alley of the corral, the Earps got more than they bragained for. Gunfire erupted with 30 rounds exhcnaged, Tom and Frank Mclaury and Billy Clanton were dead, Morgan and Virgil Earp, along with Doc Holliday were wounded. All this happened in 30 seconds according to eye witnesses. So what does this all mean? Things may seem okay, quite, beutiful, and appealing to the Christian but once engaged with it, things can trun for worst and reveal it's true identity. The only way that we can "disarm" Satan and his gang of outlaws, is by prayer. Believe me, prayer is more accurate than any Peacemaker revolver or street howitzer. Prayer can help us in times of trouble, temptation or just sittin' around the ol' campfire talking to Jesus. Paul also wrote in Ephesians 6:18, "Praying always with all prayer and supplication int he Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints." Let prayer be the by word; Literally!

It is a blessing to think on those who have already graduated to Heaven, that left us an example to follow and how to live for the Lord. Singing cowboy Roy Rogers, was a devout Christian along with his wife Dale. They both loved and lived for the Lord on and off the silver screen. Thank the Lord we "are surrounded by so great a crowd of witnesses"!

Rom 5:10 We were God's enemies, but he made us his friends through the death of his Son. Now that we are God's friends, how much more will we be saved by Christ's life!

JUST FOR TODAY: Live your life in the Lord Jesus, and let him live inside of you.  You are just like a branch on a tree; a branch cannot produce fruit if it is separated from the tree.  Likewise, you cannot produce fruit if you are separated from Jesus Christ, the "tree of life".  Live in the Lord Jesus and you will produce "fruit" that you never dreamed of in the past.  For He is the Tree and you are the branch; without Him you can do nothing of any lasting value.  (John 15: 4-5) ~Pastor Lynn

Oh Lord, keep me from bein'

The one the wolves pull down.

               --Stephanie Davis

I was pondering the thoughts of the above quotation and could picture a man floundering in deep snow.  Through the trees he hears the howls of wolves.  In his fear he begins to hurry causing him to stumble.  Out of the woods come the wolves, but the deep snow hinders their movement and the man makes it to his cabin; he has escaped the gnashing teeth.

How many have been caught out and brought down by the wolves and devoured?  How many, once strong men, were now weary of the journey and the snarling pack comes out of the woods to destroy their prey?  Who are the wolves?  They are false teachers and that teaching devours the truth of God's Word in their lives.  But in my thinking it could be the cares of the world, the struggles of life, or the actual enemy of their soul himself.

                                       D. Adkisson

"Be sober!  Be on the alert!  Your adversary the Devil is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for anyone he can devour.  Resist him, firm in the faith...."

JUST FOR TODAY: It is written: "And He said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest." ~Exodus 33:14.  Instead of worrying about the events of this day or any other day, let God Almighty plan your day for you and you can "rest" in His Power and Control of your circumstances.  At best, you have only a vague idea of what might happen this day, while God knows exactly what this day holds and how to handle it.  Whatever this day holds for you, your best preparation for it is to spend quality time with the Lord.  Repeat after me: JESUS, PLEASE HELP ME AND GUIDE ME THIS DAY.  (repeat daily for best results)  Now kick back, rest, and get ready for a great week-end!!  ~Pastor Lynn

JUST FOR TODAY: "He that believeth on the Son (Jesus Christ) hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him." ~John 3:36.  There is no neutral ground here; you either is or you ain't!!  If you do believe, then the vows and promises of God are upon you.  So, render praises unto HIM!  For He has delivered your soul from death, and He will also deliver your feet from falling, that you may walk before God in the light of the living. (Psalm 56:12-13)  If you do not believe, better take a look at that "wrath of God" thing and rethink your position.  Do you really think that being an enemy of God is a wise thing to do??  ~Pastor Lynn

JUST FOR TODAY: John the Baptist once said, " A man can recieve nothing, except it be given him from heaven." What has God given to you lately? Do you feel blessed or do you feel like God is holding out on you? Maybe it's time you examined your own life and behavior. God is with you and for you IF your course of action lines up with His will. That's HIS will not yours. There is no substitution for obedience and it really doesn't matter how hard you work or how much talent you have. You chose a course of action that lines up with the will of God and NOTHING in Heaven or on earth can stop you. (Romans 8:31) ~Pastor Lynn

Psa 56:3 When I am afraid, O LORD Almighty, I put my trust in you.
Psa 56:4 I trust in God and am not afraid; I praise him for what he has promised. What can a mere human being do to me?

JUST FOR TODAY: The number one priority in your life today should be to put your Trust in the Son of God, Jesus Christ. When you put your Trust in Jesus and "believe upon him", God the Father, who is a God of Hope, will fill you with Joy and Peace in your believing; this abundance of Joy and Peace does not come from nor is sustained by your own power, but through the Power of the Holy Spirit. Make sure you share this abundance of Hope, Joy, Peace, and Power to lift up others around you and show the world the goodness of God. Can I get a witness out there?? (Romans 15:13-14) ~Pastor Lynn
